[Brackets] Brackets [like this] are used to indicate that these stitches are BLO or FLO. Ex.: BLO
[SC 6]
& Located between two stitches, the & indicates that both stitches are made into the same
stitch, as an increase – but with two different types of stitches.
< or > Indicates the stitch will start (<) or finish (>) in the same stitch as the last stitch or
the next stitch.
<Dec> Beginning in the SAME stitch as your last stitch, make a decrease stitch into that
and the next stitch, then into the same stitch that the decrease stitch ends in, begin
your next stitch.

piece was written with the seam shift in mind. If you prefer to crochet in spiral/in
the round you are welcome to try it but I do not guarantee that all asymmetrical
sections will come out exactly as shown.

You do not need to stuff all the way to the end of the tail. Do not stuff firmly
enough to change the shape of your crochet work, and you need to leave enough
room to slide a wire in later. Wire instructions are given in row 85. If you
prefer to insert the wire early and work around the wire, you may do so.

**Note: Take one stem wire, overlap it with a 2nd wire, tape the two together
with the overlap (3-5 inches). Fold one end of the wire over itself by several
inches so that the sharp end of the wire will not stick through the crochet work
of the end of the tail. Insert the wire all the way along the spine of the Sea
Dinosaur to the tip of the tail. This wire should extend to the end of the nose of
the dinosaur – you will insert the head of the Sea Dinosaur over this wire so do
not trim it until you have the head ready.

**Note: The SC/HDC Dec in this row bridges the “step down” between 101B
and the unworked stitches in row 100. The final HDC/SC Dec “steps up” from [25]
row 100 stitches to the first stitch in 101C. Work only into the tops of stitches,
not into the sides. You will use this same technique in the following rows.

**Note: This row goes one stitch beyond where it started. The stitch count
reflects the number of stitches available to work into in the next row.

**Note: If you haven’t already started to stuff your work with polyfil, start now.

The final HDC/SC Dec “steps up” from
row 100 stitches to the first stitch in 101C. Work only into the tops of stitches,
not into the sides. You will use this same technique in the following rows.

**Note: This row goes one stitch beyond where it started. The stitch count
reflects the number of stitches available to work into in the next row.
