Balloon Dog

Materials
Worsted Weight Yarn
G – 4.25MM Hook
Tapestry Needle

Stitches used:
magic circle
sc – single crochet
dec – single crochet decrease
* * - Work what is between * and * as many times as instructed

Notes: This pattern is worked by piece from the nozzle on the nose to the tail then sewn together. All
pieces are worked in continuous rounds; do not slip stich to join unless directed otherwise.

Nozzle
Row 1: Form a magic circle, sc 6 in the circle and pull tightly to close (6)
Finish off leaving a long tail and using needle pull both strings through to the back side. Weave in the
shorter string (the one from creating the magic circle). Weave the longer string to come out through the
middle in the back.

Nose
Row 1: Form a magic circle, sc 6 in the circle and pull tightly to close (6)
Row 2: *sc2 in next stitch* repeat 5 times (12)
Row 3: *1 sc, sc2 in next stitch* repeat 5 times (18)
Row 4: 1 sc in each stitch around (18)
Rows 5 - 9: Repeat Row 4
Row 10: *dec, 1 sc* repeat 5 times (12)
Stuff the piece now
Row 11: dec 6 times, finish off leaving a long tail and make a running stitch through the six remaining
stitches and pull tight to close. Weave the tail in and out a couple times to secure then pull it through
the center of the end of the piece.

Ears (Make 2)
Row 1: Form a magic circle, sc 6 in the circle and pull tightly to close (6)
Row 2: *sc2 in next stitch* repeat 5 times (12)
Row 3: *1 sc, sc2 in next stitch* repeat 5 times (18)
Row 4: 1 sc in each stitch around (18)
Rows 5 - 11: Repeat Row 4
Row 12: *dec, 1 sc* repeat 5 times (12)
Stuff the piece now
Row 13: dec 6 times, finish off leaving a long tail and make a running stitch through the six remaining
stitches and pull tight to close. Weave the tail in and out a couple times to secure then pull it through
the center of the end of the piece.

Neck
Row 1: Form a magic circle, sc 6 in the circle and pull tightly to close (6)

Stuff the piece now
Row 16: dec 6 times, finish off leaving a long tail and make a running stitch through the six remaining
stitches and pull tight to close. Weave the tail in and out a couple times to secure then pull it through
the center of the end of the piece.

Assembly
Nose: Sew the nozzle piece onto the top of the nose and weave in the tail.

Ears and Legs: Place two pieces together with the tail ends at the same side. Using one of the tails sew
the two pieces together lengthwise trying to keep a straight line. You will want to start at the top of the
12 single crochet row and end at the bottom of the other 12 single crochet row. This will bring the two
pieces together similar to how a twisted balloon looks. Weave in the end of this string and leave the
other string for sewing to the other pieces.

You will be sewing the pieces together at the joints into one spot, as if the balloon was twisted together
at that one spot. The pieces of the joints should sit together naturally. Use each tail to sew into the next
piece and weave it in. Use the photos below for reference.
