1.0 Introduction

Communication is important for this Is the key of interacting and transferring ideas to
one person to another. Yet according to Adam Augustyn, Patricia Bauer and Brian
Duignan (2019) there are still people who wants to spend their time with themselves, a
person whose interest is generally directed inward toward his own feelings and thoughts,
in contrast to an extravert, whose attention is directed toward other people and the outside
world. Introverts is reserved and tends to have difficulty adjusting to social situations.

In the Philippines, we live where extroverts run across fields while introverts are the
underdogs (Arans, 2017). According to Ong (2013), here in our country, being an
introvert is not an easy task as they've been underrepresented and often misunderstood by
an extroverted-dominated world. In addition, part of the Filipino culture is being in
group, if you are seen alone, other Filipino assumes that you don’t have friends or worse
that nobody likes you.

In La Consolacion College Caloocan, Caloocan City, Philippines one of our

member finds out that some students who prefer to be spend their time to themselves and
study alone are the students who have introversion. Also, misconceptions and
misunderstanding them gave them a much harder situation. Thus, an action research is
necessary to address this issue

According to Norm Schriever, Filipinos are very social and spending much time with
their family and friends maybe it's in our blood to communicate with other people who
surround us. Also, interaction is very important for it is the way we exercise our influence
on others, bring out changes in our and others' attitudes, motivate the people around us
and establish and maintain relationships with them. But as defined by Kimberly Holland,
some people choose not to communicate and prefer to be alone and calm and they are
called introvert or characterized by introversion. What do people first think when they
hear the word introvert and does the description of an introvert can be accurate? Is there
any misconception about it and how does being introvert can affect one's social life?

To begin the study, the researchers finds out the synonyms of the word introvert
in able to understand more the word introvert. The following words appeared: shy,
schizoid, nervousness, wariness and highly sensitive. These words are the classification
of the word introvert which suggest to be undesirable than to its counterpart extrovert and
unsatisfactory view of introversion.

But in accordance of the study of Paula Jean Remus (2005), there's a misuse of the
words shy (socially anxious around people), schizoid (fear involvement between people).
In exception of the word highly sensitive which seems somehow can be possessed by an
introvert.

According to Kendra Cherry (2019) being an introvert doesn’t mean being shy or
socially anxious. The same as what Paula Jean Remus stated. Shyness indicates to have a
fear to socialize or interact to people, on the other hand, introvert prefer to be alone and
do not like to spend a lot of time interacting with other people. Also she stated that,
introverts are estimated to build up to 25 to 45 percent of the population which is a
massive number.

Because of this huge number of introverts we need to understand and know the essence
of introversion. In order to fulfill the misconceptions and misunderstood of introversion,
the eleventh grade students of La Consolacion College Caloocan made a research. Rather
than that, we also want to know how introversion can affect ones social life. In this study
we will establish an interview for the introverts of Grade 11 students of La Consolacion
College Caloocan to gain more information.
