CESC WRITTEN WORK 2

A C T I V I T Y (INDIVIDUAL) Reflection Writing: Take time to examine the illustration closely and reflect
on how the illustrator would like to depict how the dominant political institution view the society. Write
your reflection in a notebook that will be your journal for this subject. Submit individually to your group
leaders and to your group folder. You can use the rubrics given after the illustration.
Here in the Philippines, there are lot of dominant political institutions that are being headed by political families.
Some may say it dynasties for one, two or several of the family members are seated on higher governmental
positions mainly because they have a lot of influence on society and much power to control the people lower. But
the question is, how does these people in those dominant political institution view the people of the society? Who’re
the ones being controlled, is it the political institutions or the society?
As further examining the illustration is that the hand signifies the politician and the ropes that the people of
the society are basically their hopes. The illustrator is trying to depict that the dominant political institutions view on
the society they govern can vary. The way I see it is that there are two meanings about the hand and the people had
to tie the ropes on the politicians’ fingers. To me giving opinion is that we can relate it to the past and even to the
recent elections. To my first opinion about the politician letting the people tie down his fingers is that he’s trying to
lead on the people of the society to do so for him to be able to manipulate them later and is the one in control and is
just using the society for his own benefits and gains which is them looking down on the society. While my second
opinion is that the people are using their ropes to tie down the politician lower so they can hear the society more,
look at their condition and probably be able to make plans using their dominant political positions to do so.

To my conclusion it’s hard to tell on how various political institutions on how they look upon the society
for there are different kind of people that can rise to those political institutions be it good or bad. The society should
be the one to judge those political institutions they choose moving forward to their hopes for a better one. The
society should always be smart, curious, and vigilant to who those political institutions are and what they had to
offer and see if they are the ones qualified for the positions.

for civil society in the Philippines was founded from the Filipino concepts of pakikipagkapwa
