Worksheet 2

Task 1
Mnemonics ( /nɪˈmɒnɪk/), help us in remembering patterns. You can use the first letter of a word
and make another word with it. When you add all the new words together, it is easy to
remember. I have made a sentence using the planets in the solar system to remember the order
of the planets. Can you make a few more?

The planets look like they are similar in size in the pictures, but they are very different in size.
Let’s try to understand how different they are. Think of some spherical (round) fruits and
imagine that earth is the size of a cherry tomato. What would other planets look like? Write or
draw a fruit in each of the boxes.

Mercury Venus Earth Mars

Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune

Here are a few examples of spherical fruits and vegetables to help you (You can think of more
examples):

Blueberry Apricot Orange

Task 4
Which is your favourite planet?
Draw and write a few lines about the planet and say why you like it. Ask a parent to help you
research your planet. (You can type on top of the lines and draw your planet using Word)

My favourite planet is Neptune. I like it because it is the coldest planet in our solar system with
temperatures as low as -200 Degrees C.
It is blue in colour and is the farthest planet from the sun.
It has 14 moons. Neptune is 15 times larger than earth.
