Q1. As a Deputy Project Manager, you are tasked to construct a two-story Villa in Islamabad in
a year. Your Project Manager has tasked you to create a work breakdown of the activities for the
construction of the two-story villa over 11000 square feet of land. You are directed to create a
critical Path using the PERT Method while projecting the current market cost of each activity.

Q2. You are halfway through the construction of the Villa, your foundation work has been
completed, whereas the incurred cost increased as compared to the Plan Value by 10% in each
activity. You are at the completion stage of the ground floor with an estimated increase in the
cost of each activity by 7% as compared to the original cost. You are directed by your Project
Manager to analyze the project and provide a report on the Cost Performance Index (CPI),
Schedule Performance Index, Cost Variance and Schedule Variance. As of today, the project
time period is five months and 13 days.

Q3. The project is not moving as per the Planned Value. Your Project Manager has directed you
to Crash the Project completely. Each activity of the foundation has a crash cost estimated to be
20 % of its normal cost. The First and Second Floor Crash Costs are estimated to be 10% and 5%
respectively. The Overhead Cost of the Project is 100,000 Rs/Day. Your Object is to reduce the
Cost of the Project to minimize the losses earlier and finish the Project either on time or before.

Q4. A multi-million dollar critical project has been awarded by Client to a contractor who has no
previous experience of handling such project. Contractor's CEO is a close friend of client's
procurement department's head. What are the expected problems project may face (any three)
due to such contractor selection and suggest three improvements in the client's procurement
process.
