“I WANT WARRRRRRRRRRRR”

—Vladimir Putin
War In Current Times
Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine is, after a series of strategic missteps on the part of Vladimir Putin,
becoming what many experts are calling a “war of attrition.”

This conflict puts Russia in a very similar limelight to the one it was given in both World War 1 and World
War 2.

Russia entered the first world war with the largest army in the world, standing at 1,400,000
soldiers; when fully mobilized the Russian army expanded to over 5,000,000 soldiers (though at
the outset of war Russia could not arm all its soldiers, having a supply of 4.6 million rifles).

In contrast to the first world war, the soviet union joined the allies as they had been captured by
Germany.Even as the Red Army was imposing Soviet rule on eastern Poland, Soviet troops also
began moving into the three Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), which had enjoyed some two
decades of independence after the First World War.
A Walk Through Time
A simple summary of the current events are as follows:

1. Russia always had tension with Ukraine but in jan of 2021 Ukraine requested the US to let them join NATO

2. Russia out of anger sent troops near ukraine for ‘training’

3. Russia has demanded that the West gives a legally binding guarantee that NATO will not hold any military activity
in eastern Europe and Ukraine. Vladimir Putin claimed that Ukraine is a puppet of the West and was never a proper
state anyway.

4. Before Russia had invaded Ukraine in 2014 when rebels backed by President Putin had seized large swathes of
easterrn Ukraine and have fought Ukraine's army since then. At that time, Russia had annexed Crimea.

5. Russia and Ukraine had signed the Minsk peace accord to halt the armed conflict in east Ukraine, including the
Donbas region. But as the conflict has continued, Russia says it is sending "peacekeepers" to the region where the
conflict is brewing.

6. The new tension between Russia and Ukraine, which also borders the European Union, has repercussions for the
EU. And that's why the EU, most of who are NATO signatories have joined the US in announcing sanctions, against
Russian entities.
World
War I
WORLD WAR- I

World War I, also called First World War or Great War, an international conflict that in 1914–18
embroiled most of the nations of Europe along with Russia, the United States, the Middle East, and
other regions. The war pitted the Central Powers—mainly Germany, Austria-Hungary, and
Turkey—against the Allies—mainly France, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan, and, from 1917, the
United States. It ended with the defeat of the Central Powers. The war was virtually unprecedented in
the slaughter, carnage, and destruction it caused. World War I was one of the great watersheds of
20th-century geopolitical history. It led to the fall of four great imperial dynasties (in Germany,
Russia, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey), resulted in the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, and, in its
destabilization of European society, laid the groundwork for World War II.
Causes
The main cause for World War I was the assassination of the Austrian Archduke, Franz
Ferdinand, on 28th June, 1914.

However, there were other factors that came into play, some of them being…

European Expansion:- Certain countries in Europe, like France and Britain were
constantly expanding and gaining territories. This led to increased tensions among
the European countries.

Serbian Nationalism:- It was because of Serbian Nationalism that The Archduke even
got assassinated.

Conflicts Over Alliances:- Throughout Europe, alliances were forged between

countries. However, tension rose over pre existing and new alliances, which led to
wars within Europe
Countries Involved

Over 30 nations declared war between 1914 and 1918.

The war consisted of two sides, The Allies or Entente
Powers, and The Central Powers.
The Allies consisted of France, UK, Russia, Italy, Japan. USA
later joined in 1917.
The Central Powers consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary,
The Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria, and their colonies.
Effects Of World War I
The War ended with the signing of The Treaty Of Versailles, on 28th June, 1919.

The main effects of World War I, were the destruction of various empires, and the creation
of new nation states. The United States Of America became a world power and Soviet
Communism began. The war led to the fall of the monarchies of Germany, Turkey,
Austria-Hungary, and Russia. It also ended Colonialism for the most part. Social lives were
changed.

The war changed the world, as there was no war as great as this, before. It changed the
way people saw the concept of war, led to new battle strategies, and new weapons. It also
led to an evident need for an international body of nations, in order to promote security
and peace. This led to the founding of The League Of Nations.

World War I was devastating, however in the grand scheme of great wars, things were just
beginning. Nobody could have anticipated the terror and destruction, of the next great war
to come. Nobody could have anticipated World War II.
World
War II
WORLD WAR- II
Cause- World War II began in Europe on September 1, 1939, when Germany invaded
Poland. Great Britain and France responded by declaring war on Germany on September 3.
The war between the U.S.S.R. and Germany began on June 22, 1941, with Operation
Barbarossa, the German invasion of the Soviet Union. The war in the Pacific began on
December 7/8, 1941, when Japan attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor and
other American, Dutch, and British military installations throughout Asia.

How to prevent- If Hitler had have believed there was a credible threat of war (including
an invasion by France on his western flank) then he may have held off from an invasion of
Poland. This would mean that there would have to have been stronger actions against
Hitler gobbling up territory in central Europe leading up to that point. If the threat was
dealt with accordingly then there may well have been a serious build-up of men and
material. A cold war may have then ensued but there would still be a high likelihood of the
war turning hot.
WORLD WAR- II
★ At the end of the war, millions of people were dead and millions more homeless, the
European economy had collapsed, and much of the European industrial infrastructure had
been destroyed. The Soviet Union, too, had been heavily affected.

★ The United Nations was founded in 1945 to prevent another conflict with the horrific
consequences of World War II. A controversial organization from the start, the UN has
nonetheless encouraged disarmament, promoted human rights, fought poverty, and
worked to promote peace worldwide. Its pursuit of stability and global humanitarian
efforts also led to the World Health Organization. WHO was formed thanks to a
declaration that emerged from that first meeting of the UN, setting the control of malaria,
tuberculosis, and sexually transmitted diseases as its initial priorities.

★ The Colossus was the first programmable, electronic, digital computer, developed during
World War II by British codebreakers. It enabled the Allies to gather a ton of military
intelligence from the Germans, and it contributed to their victory in the war.

★ Johnson & Johnson invented duct tape as a waterproof sealing tape during World War II.
