Memoir
Last Outing
Every summer, I always went to Davao City for a vacation. Last 2015, I went there to
spend my two months of summer break. A week before it ended, my relatives decided to go to
the beach. We spent many hours searching for a beach. We ended up choosing the beach named
“Bonhomie” Bonhomie is read as bon-uh-mee. It is located in National Highway, Puntalinao,
Banay-Banay, Davao Oriental.

It’s still fresh in my mind how were the car filled with excitement and laughter as we
traveled. We exchanged jokes and sang along to the music. How wonderful it was to experience
that kind of outing.

Step out in the car and felt the ocean breeze. Hearing the splashing of ocean waves and
the chirping of birds made me more excited. We’re dressed in our swimming gear and embracing
that we were on a beach. We had fun under the summer heat and did not mind having sunburn
afterward.

We played volleyball, but it seemed none of us did know how to play. So the game went
like we were only tossing the ball. We search for something more fun. Roaming our eyes for
enjoyment, we have seen a bamboo floating near the shore. It has a string attached to it. We ride
on the bamboo boat. With full force, we pulled the tie to reach the floating cottage. In the middle
of pulling it, a piece of bamboo got stuck in a rock, making us unable to continue. Eventually, we
were able to remove the bamboo then continue pulling. As we reached the floating cottage, my
cousins had been jumping off to go for a swim. I was left behind and battling myself not to jump
off. I was scared to jump even though I had a life vest on me.

Moving on to our next activity, our roaming around the beach went beyond. We went
beyond the border and saw another resort. We spotted a big rock then we used it as a diving
board. My cousins climbed on the rock. They went down by jumping off the rock to the sea.

We got home when the sunsets. A mixture of tiredness and happiness was seen on our
faces as we arrived. I felt contented and blessed as I lay down to sleep. It was a great day to
reminisce.
