About
The northwest European nation of the Netherlands is well
known for its level terrain, and is home to windmills, tulip fields,
and canals. The Van Gogh Museum and the home of Jewish
diarist Anne Frank during World War II are located in the
Capital: Amsterdam nation's capital, Amsterdam. Rembrandt and Vermeer paintings,
Largest City: Amsterdam as well as canalside houses, are remnants of the 17th-century
Population : 17,618,299 "Golden Age" of the city.

History
The Netherlands' history extends long before
establishing the modern Kingdom of Netherlands in
1815. In World War 2, the country was occupied by
Nazis that killed almost all of the Jewish population
in the Netherlands. After the Dutch resistance had
increased, the Nazis decided to cut off food and
water, causing starvation from 1944 to 1945. The
Netherlands gained independence on the 5th of
May 1945.

Geography
and climate
The Netherlands is in the Temperate zone. The average
summer temperature in the nation is approximately 17°C,
while the average winter temperature is approximately 3°
C.
They have four seasons - winter (January - March), spring
(April-June), summer (July -September), and autumn
(October-December).
In the Netherlands, rain is regular throughout the year.
Language
About 25 million people speak Dutch, a
West Germanic language, as their first
language and 5 million as a second.
After its close relatives German and
English, it is the third most spoken
Germanic language. The early form of
Dutch was a set of dialects spoken by
the Salian Franks in the 5th century.
Economy
The Netherlands' currency has been the euro ever
since it joined the member state of the Economic
and Monetary Union (EMU) in 1999. The 18th
largest economy in the world and the 5th largest in
the European Union by nominal GDP, the
Netherlands has one of the most highly developed
economies and one of the highest-earning nations
in the world. Rotterdam is a major trade and
logistics economic centre in the world and many
large tech companies are in Amsterdam or have
their European headquarters in Amsterdam.

Animals
The national animal of the Netherlands’ is the lion.
As a symbol of strength and power, the lion has
been on the Netherlands’ coat of arms since the
16th and 17th centuries.

The black-tailed godwits are the national bird of


the Netherlands. These birds are mostly known for
their long beaks and legs, and they are mostly
found in grasslands.
The Netherlands is also the home of many animals,
including bats, deer, rodents, birds, seals and other
carnivorous animals.
Food
1. Poffertjes
The traditional dutch mini pancakes are made with
yeast and buckwheat flour. They are typically served
with powdered sugar and butter.
2. Stroopwafel
The Stroopwafel is a thin, round waffle cookie made
with two layers of sweet dough filled with syrup.
3. Oorlog fries
This Dutch street food enjoyed in the Netherlands,
are French fries dipped in mayonnaise and peanut
satay sauce.
Monuments
The Netherlands has a lot of appreciable
monuments, so here are our top 2 favourites:

1. The upside-down house


- The upside-down house museum is famous in
the Netherlands and is a popular tourist
attraction, with its main topic being illusions.
2. The Destroyed City
- Unveiled on May 15th 1953, in the city of
Rotterdam lies the bronze memorial sculpture,
which stands to acknowledge the German
bombing which happened on
May 14th 1940.
