“My Name is –(Your Name)— and I am the Chair for this debate, May I
welcome you to the ---(Round Number)---rd/th Round of Modern World
Debates 2020, The motion for this round is [Say the motion as informed to you
for that Round].
As the chair, for the first, second and third speakers, I will raise my hand at 1
minute, meaning from this point on, POIs will be allowed. At 7 minutes, I will
raise my hand once again, implying that the speaker is now in protected time
and no more POIs will be allowed. At 8 minutes, I will raise my hand again , If
by 8 minutes and 30 seconds the speaker has not stopped speaking, I will wave
my hand to mark the end of the speech or I may proceed to ask you to stop.
After each Speech, the next speaker will have 1 minute to consolidate their
points and then will be called up to speak. For the reply speech, 90 seconds will
be given after the 3rd Opposition Speech and there will be no grace time
between the two reply speeches. For the Reply speech, I will raise my hand at 3
minutes and then finally at 4 minutes.
For POIs, the speaker must raise their hand say and say POI, if accepted, the
speaker may continue, may I now call upon the adjudicator to commence the
debate.”

If the adjudicator does not say anything then say, “May I call upon the First
Speaker of Team Proposition to start the debate.”.

AT THE END OF EACH SPEECH, TELL THE ADJUDICATOR HOW

VERY IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE:

-WSDC format:
8,8,8,4 minutes (both sides)

-Motions and Schedule will be sent on the Group

-Moderation:
For the first 3 speakers of each side ONLY(not the reply speaker, ie, only the substantive speakers)

When the speaker has reached the first(1) minute, raise your to indicate the Points of Information have
opened(The speaker may now be asked questions)
When the speaker has reached the seventh(7) minute, raise your (The speaker may no longer be asked
questions)

When the speaker has reached the eighth(8) minute, raise your hand for 5 seconds to indicate that they
must stop their speech

They now have a 30 second buffer time to finish their speech

At 8 minutes 30 seconds, wave your hands and verbally say please stop speaking.

For Reply Speeches (Total Speech time of four minutes), Raise your hand at 3 minutes and at 4
minutes.

CALLING UPON SPEAKERS :

-After each speech say, “Thank you for that speech [Mention which speaker ie.
“The First Speaker of Team Proposition”]
-After Each Speech the Next Speaker has 1 min to get Ready.

-Then Say, “May I now call upon the [Mention the next speaker, ie. “The First
Speaker of Team Opposition”]

-Do this until the end of the debate including the Reply speeches, The reply
speakers only get 90 seconds to prepare after the 3rd Opposition speech, after
that there are no more gaps between their speeches.

-Take Pictures:
Ask for consent when the debate starts, "Do I have everyone's consent to take a picture of the debate?"

If anyone has an issue don't take pictures

If they don't have an issue, take a picture before the debate .

When you send pictures, enter debate room and which teams they are
