Acculturation process: integration

My experience this semester, moving into a new apartment and sharing it with two people
from different states, has been both fascinating and challenging. This process of
acculturation, focused on integration, has been evident in our daily coexistence, where we
have had to learn to share common spaces such as the kitchen and the living room,
establishing order to avoid misunderstandings and promote a harmonious environment.

Living with people from different states has revealed the diversity of customs and
perspectives that each of us brings with us. Each one has its own room, where we spend
most of our time, but the dynamics in shared places have been key to the integration
process. We have had to find a balance between respecting each other's own customs and
achieving a harmonious coexistence.

In this context, I believe that living with people from different states is, in fact, a process of
integration. The cultural diversity in our home has presented challenges, but also
opportunities to learn and enrich each other. The key has been openness and a willingness
to adapt to each other, accepting and respecting the cultural differences that each brings to
the shared environment.

Daily coexistence has required constant negotiation. Learning to accept some of each
other's cultural practices, while sharing aspects of our own culture, has been instrumental
in creating an enriching space for coexistence. We have managed to overcome cultural
barriers through dialogue, empathy, and a willingness to understand and respect each
other's traditions and perspectives.

One of the most notable aspects of this integration process has been the culinary exchange.
Sharing typical foods from our home states has been an interesting way to get closer and
learn more about our respective cultures. Through these gastronomic experiences, we have
not only enjoyed new flavors, but we have also learned about the stories and traditions that
each dish carries with it.

In addition, mutual adaptation has led to a deeper understanding of cultural differences,

which has strengthened our coexistence. We have found that diversity in our home not only
enriches our individual lives, but also contributes to building an environment of respect,
tolerance, and openness to new perspectives.

In conclusion, the integration process of living with people from different states has been a
valuable and educational experience. Living together on a daily basis has challenged us to
find a balance between our own habits and those of others, but it has also given us the
opportunity to grow, learn and enrich each other. Through cultural exchange, adaptation,
and acceptance, we have managed to build a home where diversity is celebrated and where
everyone brings their own essence to the shared experience.
