Sira’s Mother: Nurturing over Caring

Sira’s life was all planned out by her mother — the parent who was the only solid figure in her
life. With her mother, Sira received more nurturing rather than caring. In other words, Sira
became the extension of Dolores lived body.

Sira was raised by a seamstress. She grew up and became acquainted with the environment that
was sustaining her mother’s livelihood. Her line of vision became aligned with that of Dolores.

As the daughter of Dolores. Sira had unconsciously acquired her mother’s skills. In order to
reinforce and sustain the skills, Sira followed a rigid routine that eventually paved and laid out
the path for her future as a seamstress.

Given the context that reared Sira, the mother-daughter relationship can be compared to a
mentor-mentee. This implies that the familial relationship was not primarily about a parent
giving care to a child but more of a master imparting knowledge and skills to a student. The
unique familial relationship between the mother and daughter was the fundamental that
constituted Sira’s self. The self that stood strong in the moments of survival and thrived in
seasons of opportunity.
