1. Scope:

 This method statement outlines the procedures to be followed in the Pipeline


crossing the existing utilities of ADSSC
 This to ensure that crossing water supply to the existing pipelines and related
activities are executed safely and in accordance with Protection of Existing pipes
and with all quality assurance/control activities are conducted in a systematic
manner, works are inspected and conformance is verified and documented. There
shall be a clear cover of 0.70m from the existing pipe to the new pipeline.

2. Scope Of Work

The scope of work covers the WORK PERMIT FOR THE CROSSING THE EXISTING
UTILITIES.

schedules and supervision.

7.0 Method

 Before the Commencement of the work, all necessary permits and NOC for the
execution of this job shall be taken
 In Toolbox talk training Method Statement and TRA will be briefed to the
workforce and supervisors before starting the activities.
 Site drawing, MS & TRA will be attached with the permit and will be made
available in the work location
 Prepare the Shop Drawings and submit to the Client for approval prior to starting
any excavation works. Dig permit required from Authority shall be obtained
before excavation. Note: Only the drawings marked as approved “Issued
for Construction” are allowed to be used by the Site Staff.
 Execute survey and Layout the levels of existing pipes and utilities.
 Prior to the excavation the underground utilities will be verified by the as built
and client layout drawing.
 The estimated excavation width shall be 1.5m and the depth of excavation shall
be maximum 3 to 5 m to the required invert level of pipe bedding.
 Excavation shall be widened to provide working space for construction. The
bottom and pipe bedding shall be trimmed and compacted.
 Existing ADSSC pipelines lines shall be protected in case it is very near crossing
to the water line and as per the details shown in the attached drawings.
 The existing pipes shall be protected during the excavation by means of supports
from bottom or hanging supports by use of I beam placed crossing to the
excavation.
 Excavated materials to be stacked minimum 650mm away from the trench
excavation.
 Backfill the pipeline and chamber area.

7. Safety

 All Personal Protective Equipment used for the work force will be selected
based on the findings from the risk assessment and will be effectively man-
aged.

 Adequate information, instruction and training will be provided to all personnel


involved with the work on the wearing and use of Personal Protective Equip-
ment.

 The pipe laying crew will adhere to safety measures to be followed prior, dur-
ing and after the laying by wearing safety helmet, safety shoes, and providing
safety tape to isolate the area of excavation.

 Adequate barricades, warning lights or signs to safeguard traffic in the imme-


diate area of the pipe laying operations will be installed.

 The pipe laying area will be cleared of any obstructions.

 All personnel will be outside the swing area of the excavator.

 No attempt will be made to pipe lay in strong wind where control of the ele-
ment may be lost.

 In the case of accidents on site or any near-misses, the incident will be repor-
ted immediately to the Safety Officer and further necessary arrangements
made.

 Tool box talk will be conducted regularly..
