Pablo Picasso

1) Read the text below about Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso was born in Spain in 1881. When he was a little boy, he began to draw and could do
it with precision. His father gave him drawing lessons. Then, at the age of 13, Pablo went to art
college. Three years later, he stopped going to classes, and at the age of 19, Pablo moved to Paris-
the art capital of the world. He got married twice and had four children.

Picasso often changed his style of painting. For example, after his best friend’s death, Pablo
Picasso began to paint only in blue. It was Picasso’s Blue Period. Then, when he got over the
sadness, he began to paint with lots of pinks and oranges. That time was called Picasso’s Rose
Period.

Later in life, Picasso began to paint using shapes, a style later called ‘Cubism’.

Throughout his life, Picasso created over 50,000 works of art. He died in his home in the south of
France at the age of 91.
