Relevant Provisions of the

1987 Philippine Constitution

Preamble

The preamble states that the Filipino people must have the authority to promote the common
good also to have the trust from God and the Article 1 is the introduction to the highest law. The
preamble applying the past constitution that including the appeal to God and it is the origin of the
sovereignty and introduces the constitution. The preamble states the importance of God in order to
have a humane society and established a government that promotes common good that can give peace
and order in the society with justice and freedom to all.

Article 1

Article 1 the national territory, the main focus of this article is the Philippine archipelago which is
concerning all islands ,waters embrace, and all territories in the Philippines. When we say territory it is a
geographical area subject to the sovereignty, control, or jurisdiction of a state or other entity.

Article II

Article Two of the Philippine Constitution which is declaration of principles and state policies establishes
the executive branch of the government, which carries out and enforces laws. The Philippines renounces
war as an instrument of national policy, adopts the generally accepted principles of international law as
part of the law of the land and adheres to the policy of peace, equality, justice, freedom, cooperation,
and amity with all nations. In short the article two declare what type of state is our country, and it is
democratic type and we practice democracy. Rules are also in line in this article, it is said that we have
rules to follow in able for us to be peaceful and united.

Article XIV

Article 14 which includes Education, Science and technology, Arts, Culture and sports which requires all
of the rights and freedoms and this include our freedom to be educated. Freedom that is set out in the
Act must be protected and applied without discrimination. Discrimination occurs when you are treated
less favorably than another person in a similar situation and this treatment cannot be objectively and
reasonably justified. The State must provide quality education for all and does everything to reach out
the farthest community to educate each citizen of the country for free as much as possible. Education is
one of the greatest treasure that we have it is the only treasure that cannot be taken from each one of
us. That is why education is a must.
Article XV

Article XV, The Constitution of the Philippines expresses that, "The State recognizes the Filipino family
as the foundation of the nation. Accordingly, it shall strengthen its solidarity and actively promote its
total development. "Family is one of the basic foundation of our nation it is very essential to protect and
care for our own family. Family members has their own rights specially the children they have right to
be provided with their needs. It is also stated in this article that a family has the for to take care for the
elderly. My idea about this article is that without family we cannot be united as one blood we will
struggle to survive and no one will be available for us if we need and this is how important family is. In
this article we conclude that the family is one of the primary core of the nation because through the
development of the family the experiences, ideas, creativity, and many evolution of human capacity to
grow more is being accumulated and to help the attainment in achieving prosperity of one's nation.

Article XVI

Article XVI contains several general provisions, such as a general description of the national flag, the
establishment of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and a police force, the regulation of mass media
and advertising industries, the doctrine of sovereign immunity, and others. In this article it states that
the flag of the Philippines should be red, white and blue with a sun and three stars. The congress should
adopt a new name for a country, national anthem and a national seal . The state shall not be sued
without its consent and the Armed forces shall be composed of citizen armed force and shall undergo
military training. It focuses on the Armed force, like they should take an oath or affirmation to depend
and hold this constitution, they should be insulated in any partisan political activity and also in terms of
their retirement like the tour of duty of the Chief of Staff of the armed forces shall not exceed three
years. However, in times of war or other national emergency declared by the Congress, the President
may extend such tour of duty.
