EASTER SUNDAY REFLECTION

A. On Easter Sunday, we celebrate Christ’s resurrection from the dead. Thus, we say: “Amen.
Alleluia! The Lord is risen!” And our Holy Mother Church asks us to rise with Jesus, to go out
from where we have been buried. This means that we have to rise from our sins, since our sins
caused us to be buried in our own grave. In other words, today, we are being invited to renew
and transform our lives. Of course, we can only do that when we die to our sins. We really need
to carry our sins towards Calvary, nail them on the cross, and bury them in the grave. It is true
that it may be difficult to change our ways and to renew our life, but if we do not bury our old
life and self, then we cannot also rise with our Lord. When we do not leave behind our
unpleasant behaviors and evil ways, we cannot come out from where we have been buried, and
we cannot share in Christ’s resurrection.
B. I can use this realization to become a better louisian by doing the right thing in every step of the
way, to think before doing something bad or making a decision in life.

SUNDAY REFLECTION:

A. Our Gospel reading narrates to us about the two disciples who walked the road to Emmaus.
Obviously, they walked out of Jerusalem defeated, trying to understand the series of events and
gather together the pieces of their lives shattered and broken by the death of our Lord Jesus. As
they were overwhelmed with grief and sadness, their minds were clouded with confusion, doubt
and disbelief. But our Risen Lord continued to show his care and concern for his disciples. He was
patient to them. As Jesus joined the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, he firmly led them to
a new perspective. He respectfully explained the series of events in a new light. Thus, the
encounter brought to the disciples joy and wonder, filling their hearts with happiness. Like the
disciples, there may be things in our life that are beyond our understanding. Our experiences
may bring into doubt the things that we believe in, we may raise questions about the world,
about ourselves, and even about our faith. And in times like this, we need a guide to help us and
understand us. We need a gentle push for our eyes and minds to be opened. This will happen
only if we allow Jesus to become a part of our lives. Like the two disciples, our Risen Lord will
make us see and understand our life in a totally new light and perspective. And surely, joy and
wonder shall fill our hearts on account of the great acts God has done in our lives.
B. I can use this realization that help me to become a better louisian, by being able to trust God
whatever our situation is, He is always there listening to us, maybe we can’t see, hear and touch
Him it doesn’t mean he doesn’t exist.
