Job title: Researcher (Coordinator and qualitative interviewer)

Type: Permanent ☒ Fixed Term ☐ Temporary ☐

Day to day coordination of research related activities including participant


recruitment, conducting qualitative interviews and facilitating focus group
Main purpose of the job:
discussions, quality control of source documents, contribution to analysis and
dissemination activities.

Key performance areas

Become familiar with project/topics area through literature review.


Develop SOP’s.
Schedule appointment with participants and collect data.
Conduct and/or manage relevant fieldwork activities.
Manage quality data capture, transcription, and translation.
Develop and document appropriate coding frameworks.
Develop and document appropriate coding frameworks.
Ensure storage and achieving of data according to SOP’s (electronic and hard copy data).
Publish, disseminate, and present findings and results to stakeholders.
Participation in all appropriate research related meeting (internal and external).
Assist and overseas patient recruitment, screening, and enrolment of eligible patients according to protocol
requirements.
Retrieve related patient files, reports, and documentation.
Lease with sponsors to ensure CRF’s and laboratory kits are prepared.
Provide background information to patients prior to informed concern being signed.
Book and/or perform study specific pre-screening or screening (randomisation).
Recruit eligible participants for participation in studies.
Secure informed written and verbal consent from each participant before research starts.
Critically reflect on positionality and power relations as a respectful researcher prior, during, and after data
collection activities.
Conduct successful interviews and focus group discussions with superb communication skills, awareness of
personal biases, critical curiosity, and a neutral tone.
Successful administer interview and focus group discussion guides to address research questions and meet
project endpoints.
Produce written account of qualitative activities with detailed findings.
Safely transfer confidential data files to external agencies and partners via secure file transfer protocol.
Ensure quality assurance of audio files, transcripts, and debrief reports from qualitative activities in a systematic
and timely manner.
Engage in regular meetings and discussions about study progress and summarize data collection
activities/findings.

Assist with qualitative analysis, writing and dissemination.


Maintain all participants files and filling system.
Compile all relevant project administration as and when required (i.e. participants reimbursement.
Document team meeting as and when required.
Compile weekly report on activities, progress etc.
Complete relevant questionnaires, assessments, and documentation.
Compile CRF entries.
Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-management.
Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately
maintained.
Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback.
Take ownership for driving own career development in attending training and development sessions such as
journal clubs, seminars, writing series and workshops etc.
Comply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Protocol Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Verify accuracy of data in source document and accuracy of transcription from source data to Case Report
Form (CRF) as needed.
Ensure errors on source data to Case Report Form CRF’s are corrected, initialled, and dated.
Support the timely transmission/data faxing of relevant Case Report Form following QC activity (as needed).
Ensure completion of corrective action of internal and external QC report and monitoring review.
Assist with staff training (and retraining) where error trends are identified.

Required minimum education and training.

Honours degree in Social Sciences.

Required minimum work experience

Minimum 2 years working experience in qualitative research environment.

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities

Certification in good clinical practice (GCP).


Certification in Human Subjects Research.
Experience in scientific software including qualitative analysis software and REDCap data capture software.
Experience in transcription and data quality assurance.
Experience in writing publications an advantage.
Able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Be tactful and respectful.
Ordered and systematic with strict compliance to protocols.
Good administration skills.
Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
