4 Installation of Flash EPROM-Burner-System to the MPU-30

Create a MEM 5 with the special “Burn” functionality for the MPU 30. This can be done on a common
BDM (MPU 24), like any other GSW (base software). To download the program to the MPU 30 Flash,
you need to place the jumper (J1; 1 and 2, for CPU-32 Mode) of the MPU 30 into the correct position so
the Blocks will be downloaded to the internal memory.

J1

Please make the following E²prom settings with help of the program “E2_progr.out”:

Process bus: Ethernet

Station type: PPS/CPS/BDM
MPU-Eth1: your address No (node) for the station (e.g. 57)
MPU-Eth2: your address No (node) for the station (e.g. 57)
(All other settings are not relevant for the requested operation!)

Switch off the MPU 30, after the download is finished and replace the Jumper J1; back to the 68040-
Mode (2 and3).

Installation and Operation Description

To check the successful download in the “Burn Station”, connect the Null modem cable (RS 232) with
Hyperterminal (OS-9 Terminal script for XP is on CD). The second last line after booting up is
“BurnMemPc <>>>/nil &”.

The Null Modem cable for the Ethernet connection can be made from an existing patch cable. Cut the
cable in two half’s and you can make two MPU-30 connecting cables! The RJ 45 plug is for the
connection to the pc, the other side you have to connect with the plug X1 of the MPU-30, see connection
diagram below.

5 Installation on the Server–PC

5.1 Installation Batch

Caution: Administrator rights are required to perform this installation!

Start the installation script “install.bat” inside the CD Folder “PC Installation”
Set the same node number than the one you have chosen in the “Burner Station” settings
(This number can be modified with the program “BurnerNodeId.exe afterwards)

A Mini Server Software will be installed on the PC; this is required for a proper operation of the system.
Press any key to end the installation Process!

In detail:
• An icon ‘MEM-Burner’ is shown on the desktop
• For the temporary burner file the folder Blocks is created on the C drive (C:\Blocks).
Do not erase this folder, or change the name of the folder.
• The MEM-Burner Program itself is located under c:\programFiles\MemBurner\, and also the
location script SOFTWAREVERSION.dri (rev. 08.09.2006)

There is an uninstall batch in the burner Installation Folder and in the Windows “Home” Folder
(uninstMemBurner.bat)

Other Settings
Copy the folder “SW_freig” from the CD to the root of the C-Drive. Do not change the name of this
folder or the folders and files below, because the file “SOFTWAREVERSION.dri” contains the file
location settings.

Caution:
After you copy files/ folders from the CD to your hard disc, the property “write protected” has to
be disabled for all folders/ subfolders and files below.
When you extract the self extracting “RAR” files
E_Burn_blocks.exe (directly used by diasys during “Prepare for `BDM´-programming) and
SW_freig.exe (to extract at C:\)
the write protection is not active.

Installation and Operation Description

When a new Basicsoftware (GSW) is available for update, it is also imperative to get an updated
“SOFTWAREVERSION.dri” file, otherwise the new SW is not recognised by the program!
If you do not have the extended configuration file, it is possible to copy the blocks manually into the
folder c:\Blocks.
If necessary you also can change the location of the software. For this you need to edit the file
“SOFTWAREVERSION.dri” (The entries are on top of the file)

5.2 Network Settings on Server-PC

It is necessary to give the Server-PC an IP address inside the valid IP-Range of the MPU 30; otherwise
communication between the two devices can not be established.
The Server PC’s IP Setting must be in the IP-Range of 130.20.41.xx, but it must be different to the node
settings of the MPU-30 device (node 57 in our example). You find those settings when you click with
the right Mouse Button on “Network neighborhood”/ Properties\ Local Area Connection\ TCP/IP\
Properties.

See Example:

5.3 Set-up of Project Data Source Files

The location settings are made in the file “SOFTWAREVERSION.dri”, the rest of the path has to follow
the PU structure! (i.e.: C:\PU\742354\A1\COMM\MPU4\blocks.0*)

See Example:

6 Operating Instructions

6.1 Introduction

You have two possibilities to run the operation.

In the first one, you need to copy the required Block files manually into the folder c:\Blocks.
In the second one (an easier solution) you can choose the required software from a menu. For this
purpose a script file “SOFTWAREVERSIONS.dri” is required. This is found in the installation folder
“MemBurner”. Only the software mentioned in this file which is located at the specified place can be
copied into the folder Blocks.

7 Troubleshooting

7.1 Test of Network LAN Settings

To check if the two devices are communicating witch each other, you may use the command “ping”.
Open the “Start” Button in Windows (lower left Corner” and select “Run”, Type in “cmd”, press enter
and the “DOS Box” shows up!
Now type: ping 130.20.41.xx <Enter> and a response from the MPU 30 must come back and show on
the screen, see Example below: (In the example we choose 57 for the MPU-30 node)

Note: you also can perform a ping in the other direction (MPU 30 Æ PC)

7.2 Error messages

• Be sure, that the power supply for the MPU 30 provides between 24.5 V and 27 V!

• Check if the folder “Blocks” is directly located under the root of c:\.

• The Firewall may block the traffic. In this case the Firewall function must be disabled for the
time you are using the “Burner Station”

The same message appears, when the network cable is the wrong type or it is disconnected.

Try a different timeout time in the “MenBurner.ini” File.

Location: “C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc” for Windows XP and
C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc for Windows 2000

The communication between pc and MPU-30 is very sensitive, sometimes is helps to reboot the
MPU -30 first (network connection plugged in) and then the pc. Give the devices some time to
finish the booting

• For PU-Data, check if the mentioned path is according to your settings.

see example:

• If the wrong MEM Module is plugged into the MPU-30, you will receive this message.
