What is Holland’s
Code?
is a system to classify jobs into job
categories, interest clusters, or work
personality environments. In the
Holland Model, these categories
represent work personalities.
What are the work
personalities?
The Six Categories:

● Realistic
● Investigative
● Artistic
● Social
● Enterprising
● Conventional
Realistic
Someone who is realistic will:
-Assertive and competitive.
-Interested in activities that require
motor coordination, skill and
strength.
-Prefer to solve problems by doing
something rather than talking about
it.
-They prefer concrete thinking vs.
abstract thinking.
-Are more interested in scientific and
mechanical matters vs cultural or
aesthetic concerns.
Investigative

Observe rather Prefer to work


than act individually vs.
in groups
Rather organize
and understand

persuade others with DATA
Artistic
Someone who is artistic will:
-be creative, open, inventive, original, perceptive,
sensitive, independent, and emotional.
-They do not like structure or rules.
-They like tasks that involve physical skills, and
are more likely to express emotion than others.
-They like to work with ideas and things.
Social
Someone who is social will:
-have the need to teach or help in situations.
-be more drawn to seek close relationships with
other people.
-Less likely to desire to be really intellectual or
physical.
-They like to work with people.
Enterprising
Someone who is enterprising will:
-good talkers
-use their skills to lead and persuade others
-They value reputation, money, power, status, and
will usually go after it.
-They like to work with people and DATA.
Conventional

Someone who is conventional will:


-like rules and regulations to emphasize
self-control.
-like structure and order.
They dislike unstructured or unclear work
or interpersonal relationships.
-They value reputation, power or status.
-They like to work with DATA.
