REFLECTION: THE BLIND SOLDIERS

The Blind Soldiers is a story of five illiterate young men from the tribe of Teduray.
The story of the film revolved around the year of the Japanese soldiers invasion in the
Philippines. These young men joined the United States Armed Forces of the Far East
(USAFFE) to fight for their country. Military life and boot camp training is never a joke,
you will witness the hardships of the soldiers and how they endure the pain and sorrow
in the battles. These film showcased that your determination for something, even
protecting your loved ones and fighting for your country, does not necessarily requires
literacy to begin with. Most of the times, we learned a lot of things in admitting we know
nothing but you do not have to stay ignorance, just like these five aspiring soldiers they
learned the hard way. Even with lots of criticisms they receive from fellow cadets and
officers, they strive and go past what other people may say about them. They are
indeed courageous and has the heart of patriotism. Although they had lost two of their
friends in the battle, the three survivors of them remained intact and loyal to each other
as they fled from the Japanese soldiers as they lost the battle and in the state of
surrender. This film is a picture of heroism and bravery, it is a reminder to all of us that
soldiers are not just soldiers, they also has a family that wait for them, and they also
long to survive the war and be reconciled with them again. These kind of soldiers
deserves respect and honor for their sacrifices and love for our native land.
