3.0 TARGET STRENGTH FOR MIX PROPORTIONING:


f /ck = f ck + 1.65 s
where
f /ck = target average compressive strength at 28 days
f ck = characteristic compressive strength at 28 days , and
s = standard deviation

From table 1 of IS 10262, (standard deviation for M 35 is) = 5.0 N/mm2

Therefore, target strength = 43.25 N/mm2

4.0 Selection of Water Cement Ratio:

Maximum Water Cement Ratio As per (MORT&H Table – 1700-2) = 0.45


4.1 Selection of Water content:

From Table 2, IS 10262: 2009 Maximum water content per m3 = 186 Litrs.

4.2 Selection of Cement Content

From (MORT&H Table 1700 – 2) minimum cement content = 360 Kg/m3

From Table 3, IS: 10262-2009 volume of coarse aggregate corresponding to 20mm size aggregate and fine aggregate ( Zone III ) water cement ratio
is 0.50 = 0.64

In the present trail, corrected proportion of volume of Coarse Aggregate for the Water Cement Ratio
of 0.42 = 0.64 ,
