1.1 General information
The 2023 IEC Young Professionals workshop will take place in conjunction with the IEC General Meeting from 22
to 26 October 2023 at the Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino .

1.2 Registration
All YPs must register online using the Meeting Registration System (MRS).
• Go to meetings.iec.ch.
• Log in with your IEC username and password .
• Under MEETINGS OPEN FOR REGISTRATION, select 87th IEC GENERAL MEETING.
• Choose your registration to activate your prof ile and registration process - Select Start registration.

Important: Please register to the f ollowing activities:

Under the Meetings tab:

• Young Prof essional Workshop (f or all parts)
• SMB or CAB meetings – you may observe the meeting of the Standardization Management Board (SMB)
or the Conformity Assessment Board (CAB) as observers on Sunday 22 October in the afternoon. Please
choose one.
• Market Strategy Board Seminar

Under the Events tab:

• IEC Young Prof essionals welcome gathering (Saturday 21 October in the evening).
• Opening ceremony & Welcome reception (Sunday 22 October in the evening – optional)
• Farewell party (Thursday 26 October in the evening – optional)
• Under Summary, click on Submit registration.

It is important to complete your registration as soon as possible!

1.3 Online training course

Bef ore attending the workshop, you are kindly requested to take the online training course on the IEC Academy
online platf orm at https://academy.iec.ch/my/
• Log in with your IEC username and password using the IEC Login f unction.
• Select the IEC Young Prof essionals Programme Foundation under Available courses.
• Follow the course and take the quiz. Once the quiz is answered successfully, you will receive a completion
certif icate.

Please complete the course by 10 October.

1.4 Your profile on the Experts Management System (EMS)

Please complete your YP prof ile in the Expert Management System (EMS).
• Go to https://experts.iec.ch/ords/f?p=300:99:202447569699743::::: and select the Expert Management System
tab.
• Log in with your IEC username and password .
• Go to My personal details and f ind the YP tab .

• Complete the information listed and select the fields you wish to be visible on the IEC website. You will notice
that we have already added your photo. If you do not wish to have your photo visible on the IEC website, please
uncheck the box "Public".

1.5 Election of the 2023 YP Leaders

Every year at the IEC YP workshop, three Young Professionals are elected to be the next YP Leaders to represent
the YPs. In Cairo, you will vote for your representatives and three of you will become the 2023 IEC YP Leaders.
The YP Leaders are the ambassadors of the Programme within the IEC community. This role significantly increases
their exposure and visibility in the community as they represent the f uture voice of the IEC. You can see the previous
years’ YP Leaders here.

This is a great opportunity, and we want you to start thinking if this is something you would be interested in. The
commitment depends on how much you would like to get out of the role, but previous years’ Leaders have estimated
this as taking around two days per month of their time. A few examples of past projects include awareness raising
in universities, development of manuals and brochures, webinars , supporting the newest IEC members with their
YP programmes and the Standard in a Day bootcamp.
If you want to be elected as 2023 IEC YP Leader, you will be asked to put your name down by Wednesday 25
October to be voted into the position on Thursday 26 October. Theref ore, at this stage, you should think if you
would be interested in this role and speak to your employer about it to see if they would support you, as some of
the work as a YP Leader may have to be carried out during regular working hours.

At the workshop, you will hear f rom the 2022 IEC YP Leaders about their experience and you will be able to interact
with them to f ind out more about their projects.

want to be a YP Leader which will be shared with all YPs.

1.6 Accommodation
The IEC will organize and cover the expense of a single occupancy room with breakfast f or you at the Cairo Marriott
Hotel f or up to 6 nights:

Friday 27 October (check-out day)
Please do not make a hotel booking yourself f or those six nights. Kindly note that any additional hotel expenses,
such as the use of telephone or mini bar as well as extra nights as private stay, will be at your charge. In case you
wish to book extra nights at the same hotel, you will receive f urther details soon.

1.8 Transport
You are requested to arrange transportation f rom and to the airport, at your own cost. You may f ind more

1.9 Visas
Visitors must meet the entry requirements f or Egypt to travel to the country. Foreign nationals must have a passport
valid f or at least six months. The majority of nationalities also need a visa. Citizens of just 10 countries can visit
Egypt without a visa f or a limited time.

Travellers f rom 74 countries can obtain the Egyptian eVisa, the most convenient option f or visitors, through the
application process which is 100% online here.
Anyone not eligible f or the eVisa needs to get an Egyptian visa through their embassy or consulate.
