Psychodiagnostics report of RISB

Reason for referral:


The client came to the hospital with the complaints of sleeping disturbances, insomnia,
restlessness, and worthlessness at times. RISB was administered to do a detailed analysis of the
examinee’s underlying personality traits and any disturbing elements of unconscious leading to
the presenting complaints. Moreover, the test was used to point out any maladjustments that the
subject might have in multiple life domains.

Presenting Complaints:
The client reported some issues of attention and concentration at times. She mentioned that
sometimes it gets hard for her to have a sound sleep. Apart from the mentioned issues nothing
else was reported and the client was in a relaxed sound state.

Behavioural Observation:
The client was well dressed and in appropriate clothes. The client was sitting comfortably on
the chair at the start, however there were some moments when she started to look around and
fidget but regained her calm composed posture later. Apart from that there were no neurotic
traits present in the client during the administration of the test. The client was easy to talk to.
She was interested and excited about the test administration which indicated the presence of
good rapport. The client understood the test instructions well and performed the test
appropriately without seeking any reassurance. She did inquire if she was taking too long twice
but was again focused on work upon replying. She was sceptical about some sentences and
mentioned once that she is unable tothink of anything however she didn’t quit any item.

Test Administration:
Rotter’s Incomplete Sentence Blanks (RISB) was administered on the client in the private
clinic. The setting of the room was comfortable with sufficient light availability. The client was
relaxed and excited about the test. Standard instructions were given as per the manual which
the client understood well. She took 18 minutes to complete the test.

The subject scored raw score which is below the cut off score135 and hence it indicates
adjustment of client. Quantitative analysis also indicates that out of total 40 responses 14
responses are positive. These 14 Positive responses (P) contains 03 P1 responses and 05 P2
responses. Six (06) of the responses is classified as P3. Total Conflictual responses are 07 and
they are 05, 01 and 01 in number in the subcategory of C1, C2 and C3 respectively. 15 neutral
responses are given by client. Moreover, no items were omitted.
Qualitative Analysis
Following categories can be used to analyze different aspects of client's life i.e., familial
attitudes, social and sexual orientation, and general attitude.
Familial Attitudes:
Client’s responses on multiple items shows for her familial attitudes. Her responses on items 2,
11, 13, and 35 are representation of her positive familial orientation. All these items depict that
client is adaptively/positively family oriented. She has shown positive attitude towards her
family life. Moreover, she is respectful towards her parents and wants to make them proud. She
is also anxious about not doing any such thing that might hurt her parents.

Social Attitude
Response given by client on following items 5, 10, 14, 26, 28, 36, and 40 show her social
attitude and her social experiences. These responses indicate that the client has an overall
positive attitude towards other people around her. She thinks people nowadays are very active
and successful. She expresses a feeling of envy towards confident people. The responses
indicates that she has good friends, and she enjoys their company. Moreover, she thinks that
most girls are confident and born leaders.

Sexual Attitude
Patient's response on item 7 and 26 shows that her sexual orientation is intact, and she has a
positive attitude towards the other gender. Her response indicated that men nowadays have an
open mind set and are also supportive to women around. She considers marriage as a strong
emotional institution indicating a neutral approach towards the phenomenon.

General Attitude
The client has an overall positive attitude towards her family and social life. She shows a
healthy bonding with her family and is working hard to make her parents proud. The client has
a good relationship with her friends too. She has been a good student and has actively
participated in social activities too and she was an active member of the music club. Her
responses also indicate an overall hopeful and positive approach towards the opposite gender.
However, some of her responses indicate that she has an anxious general attitude towards
herself. There is a feeling of inadequacy to face her own ambitions and needs. She considers
herself incompetent and her thoughts as well as state of mind seem somewhat stressed and
uncertain. She also thinks that other people are active and work hard. She has a feeling of envy
towards successful people. However, the client is still optimistic about overcoming the hurdles
and making herself and her family proud by achieving her full potential. Her test score shows
her adjustment in different areas of life respectively.
Conclusion
Patient's responses on RISB indicate that she is hardworking, career oriented, adaptively social,
and family-oriented person. Some of her responses show a conflicting attitude towards her own
self and her future expectations. There is a sense of feeling of inadequacy to face her own
ambition and goals. However, the client is still optimistic about overcoming the hurdles and
making herself and her family proud by achieving her full potential. lacks self-confidence and
has a negative attitude about people in this world. The client obtained a raw score of 103 that
is less than the cut-off score of 135. It indicates that she is adjusted to different areas of her life
like social areas, general areas, and familial domain.

Limitations and Suggestions

• As RISB is not assessing all aspects of personality therefore, TAT can be administered
for detail in depth understanding of Patient's needs and defenses.

• Biases may error in scoring as scoring of RISB is subjective.
