Short Description
This course is designed to train the student to translate selected texts from different genres of discourse
from Arabic into English, with particular emphasis on how to select the proper word, how to use English
structures, as well as major rhetorical devices, proper punctuation, sentence linkers, and smooth
transitions between paragraphs. Lively classroom discussions resulting from comparing different
translations should ensue with the aim of pointing out why each group of students prefers one translation
to the other.
Course Objectives

- Acquire a range of theoretical approaches to translation.


- Identify problems and use the appropriate theory to tackle these problems;
-Improve student’s ability to translate English passages to proper Arabic and vice versa in a given
time.
- Teach students how to use the dictionary effectively to precisely translate difficult vocabulary
and terminology within their context.
- Help students practice different kinds of passages while emphasizing the importance of
remaining faithful to the text in providing a general meaning of a certain passage .
- Students will be able to identify, analyze and resolve translation problems.
- To provide some basic training on maintaining balance in translation.

Plagiarism
