Advanced Grammar: Communicative Purposes

Course Description:
This course provides an in-depth review and analysis of English grammar structures with a focus on
applying grammar knowledge to communicative teaching purposes. Students will examine the form,
meaning, and use of complex grammar patterns in authentic spoken and written English. Emphasis is
placed on understanding common student grammar errors from an English language learner
perspective. Students will develop teaching activities, strategies, and assessments to foster
communicative competencies in future English language learners.

Course Objectives:
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
 Accurately identify and explain complex English grammar structures
 Analyze common grammar difficulties for English language learners
 Develop communicative teaching materials and activities to teach grammar
 Create assessments to evaluate grammar competencies
 Explain grammar rules and concepts clearly to future students
 Integrate grammar instruction effectively into the four language skills (reading, writing, listening,
speaking)
