AvatarOverlay

These icons are available to overlay on your avatar to represent your function in Oracle Community.

Note: Please remember that images you upload for your avatar will be moderated according to the
Oracle Terms of Service. For example, avatars will be rejected if they are harassing, promote hatred,
are in poor taste, violate copyright laws, or contain spam. Please avoid uploading any misleading
avatars (for example, using an Ace playing card when you are not an Oracle ACE). See the Terms of
Service for more.

To download any icon:

• Place your mouse on the lower part of the icon and click on it.
• Depending on your browser preferences, the icon will display in a browser page as either the same
page you are in (if you opened this in a browser), a new tab or a new window.
• Save the image on your desktop by right clicking for the context menu and then click Save Image
As... or Save Picture As... depending on your browser (note that the download will preserve the
transparent background).

Instructions: Since Microsoft Paint is distributed with Microsoft Windows, these instructions use
Microsoft Paint to add the overlay to your personal avatar. Instructions for MAC, Linux and Photoshop
may be available at a later date.

1. Download one of the Icon Overlay images above to your desktop.

2. Open Microsoft Paint.

3. Open your personal avatar:

4. Your avatar should be 46 x 46 for best results. If it is, go ahead and skip this step. If it is not, use the
Image -> Resize function as shown below to change it to 46 x 46.

5. Zoom in on your personal avatar by either using the Zoom tool or the slider on the bottom (note that after
zooming your image in it will appear pixelated - this will look fine after you have completed all steps and
zoom back out to 100% after the last step) . The purpose for zooming on the avatar is that you will be
able to position the icon overlay exactly where you want it to go. As indicated below, zooming in to about
400% works well.

7. From the Clipboard --> Paste --> Paste From dialog, select the Icon Overlay image you downloaded in
step#1. Note that Microsoft Paint puts the image it opens on the upper left hand corner and replaces the
transparent background with white.

10.We strongly suggest that you place the overlay on the lower right corner as shown below. Should
that not look good or is otherwise unacceptable, please consider the lower left corner. If neither
of those work, please consider adjusting your avatar so that the overlay icon will look good/
acceptable on the lower right corner so that we have consistency.

Using your mouse (do not use the arrow keys!), position the icon overlay where you would like it to
appear on top of your personal avatar. If you mistakenly use your arrow keys, you may need to Undo
adding the icon overlay and repeat these instructions from step#5. This is because Microsoft Paint
does not allow you to move parts of an image with the arrow keys (and there is no concept such as
Photoshop's layers).

11.Zoom the image back out now to 100% to see it in its real size (and the size you will see when uploaded
to Oracle Community).

12.Finally, save the image as a file type PNG. While you can also save it as JPG or GIF, a PNG will result in
the best quality.
