1. Andhra Pradesh ranked 1st in the implementation of e-Sanjeevani


Telemedicine

 Andhra Pradesh stood in first place in the implementation of e-Sanjeevani Telemedicine


services in India contributing 32% of teleconsultations i.e. 3.1 crores against 9.7 crores
total teleconsultations across India.

About e-Sanjeevani:

 It is a national doctor to doctor telemedicine service that strives to provide an alternative


to the conventional physical consultations via digital platform.
 eSanjeevani is a cohesive part of Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission (ABDHM),
and more than 45,000 ABHA IDs have been generated via eSanjeevani application.
 Leading ten states for usage of this platform are: Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal,
Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana
and Gujarat.

Two Verticles:

 Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) Programme:


 It endeavours to bridge rural-urban digital health divide by providing assisted
teleconsultations.
 It ensures that e-beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat Scheme are able to avail of the
benefits they are entitled to.
 This vertical operates on a Hub-and-Spoke model wherein the AB-HWCs set up at state
level, act as spokes, are mapped with the hub (comprising MBBS/ Specialty/Super-
Specialty doctors) at zonal level.
 This model has been successfully implemented in 1,09,748 AB-HWC and 14,188 Hubs,
hence, achieving a total of 7,11,58,968 teleconsultations.

eSanjeevaniOPD:

 It caters to citizens in both rural and urban areas.


 It leverages technology via smartphones, tablets, laptops enabling doctor consultations to
be accessible from the patient’s residence regardless of location.
 eSanjeevaniOPD has trained and onboarded 2,22,026 specialists, doctors and health
workers.
 This platform has an impressive record of having served over 4.34 lakhs patients in one
day.

eSanjeevaniOPD – Stay Home OPD has been developed by Centre for Development of
Advanced Computing (C-DAC) Mohali, a premier R&D organization of the Ministry of
Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

2. AP Career Portal Login Career Counselling for 9th–12th Students

Andhra Pradesh government has launched a career portal for secondary and higher secondary
students in the state named AP Career Portal.

 The Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh has developed this
“apcareerportal.in” online job site in collaboration with UNICEF.
 Students in grades 9 to 12 will be able to access a variety of career information through the
AP Career Guidance Portal.
 In addition, students will also be able to communicate with their instructors through the
site. Account-specific portals will be beneficial for the students in many ways.

3. Andhra Pradesh's 1st 'milk bank' opened at government general


hospital, Kakinada

 The Andhra Pradesh state's first of its kind 'milk bank' was inaugurated in the paediatric
department of government general hospital in Kakinada on February 13, 2023.
 The newborns, who were deprived of mother's milk and used to be given tin milk till now,
can now get mother's milk through the milk bank.

would procure milk from healthy mothers, which would be tested in modern labs before
being sent to the milk bank.

4. Visakhapatnam railway station received ‘Green Railway Station


Certification’ with highest Platinum rating

 Visakhapatnam station secured 82 out of 100 points in six environmental categories.

 Visakhapatnam railway station of East Coast Railway has been awarded the ‘Green Railway
Station Certification with highest rating of Platinum' by the Indian Green Building Council
(IGBC) for adopting green concepts thereby reducing the adverse environmental impact.

 The Environment Directorate of Indian Railways, with the support of the IGBC, has
developed the Green Railway Station rating system. It addresses national priorities such as
water conservation, handling of waste, energy efficiency, reduced use of fossil fuel, lesser
dependence on usage of virgin materials and health and well-being of occupants.

 Visakhapatnam railway station performed well in categories such as sustainable facilities,


health, hygiene, energy and water efficiency, smart green initiatives, innovation and
development.

5. Vijayawada Railway Station bagged award in ‘tourist-friendly’


category

 Vijayawada has been selected as the green railway station. It has received the highest
'Platinum Rating' from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). Earlier it got gold rating
and recently got platinum certificate. Better facilities for passengers at the station,
cleanliness, sanitation, energy efficiency, water efficiency, smart and environment friendly
aspects have been analyzed and provided. Factors that contributed to the rating...
• Installation of star rated electrical equipment, LD pictures, BLDC fans, daylight
sensors, energy monitoring, solar heaters on the roof of the platform in the station.

• High pressure jet systems in bogie cleaning, waste water treatment, waste water
reuse measures to reduce water consumption.
• Ticket bookings at stations, tourist information, smart card ticketing at booking

6. Despite 3 lakh new voters, list


shrinks by 7.51 lakh in Andhra
Pradesh

 The number of voters in the state has come


down by 7.51 lakh when compared with
2022 despite enrollment of 3.03 lakh new
voters this year. While 4.7 crore voters were
enrolled after the Special Summary Revision
(SSR) 2022, the number significantly fell to
3.99 crore after SSR-2023.

19,42,233 voters while Alluri Sitarama
Raju district, with a large tribal population,

7. Justice Syed Abdul Nazeer took oath as Andhra Pradesh Governor

 Former Supreme Court Judge Justice Syed Abdul Nazeer, sworn in as Governor of Andhra
Pradesh, replacing Biswa Bhusan Harichandan.

 AP High Court Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra administered the oath of office to
Justice Abdul Nazeer, at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.

 Justice Abdul Nazeer was appointed as Governor of Andhra Pradesh on February 12. Born
on January 5, 1958, in Beluvai, Karnataka, he completed law at Sri Dharmasthala
Manjunatheshwara Law College, Mangalore, and practiced in Karnataka High Court and
other courts for about 20 years.

 On February 17, 2017, Justice Abdul Nazeer was elevated to the Supreme Court. After
serving for almost six years in the Apex Court, he retired on January 4, 2023.

8. AP stood at third place in 66th All India Police Meet-2022


competitions

● Andhra Pradesh police secured the third place in the 66th All India Police Duty Meet-2022
which was held recently in Bhopal of Madhya Pradesh.

● The State police personnel won eight medals including two gold, four silver and two bronze
in various categories.

● The State won awards in scientific aid to the investigation, computer awareness and
shooting categories.

9. ‘Jaganannaku Chebudam’ programme

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy started an innovative programme,


Jaganannaku Chebudam' to listen to the grievances from the public and resolve them
possibly on-the-spot.
● It will be an improvisation of the existing Spandana programme.

● Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a toll-free helpline
number, 1902, under the Jaganannaku Chebudam program on May 9,2023.

● The aim of this initiative is to provide quick and quality solutions to people's grievances
related to welfare schemes and government services.

● Once citizens register their grievances, they will be issued a unique Your Service Request
(YSR) number. They will then receive regular updates on the status of their grievances
through IVRS and SMS-based communications

10. National Law University at Kurnool

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet gave its approval for establishment of the National Law
University in the state. The university, the second of its kind in the country, will come up
on a 50-acre campus at Kurnool.

11. Six new urban mandals in AP

 The government proposed bifurcation of Vizianagaram, Machilipatnam, Ongole,


Anantapur, Chittoor and Nandyal urban mandals. These mandals would be bifurcated
creating urban and rural mandals. It created SIX NEW URBAN MANDALS

12. AP CM launched the stamping service of the stamps and


registrations department

 Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on April 21,2023 launched the -stamping
service of the stamps and registrations department from the CM's camp office in Tadepalli.
 The new system would enable people to prepare their own documents, pay stamp fee, buy
stamps and transfer cheques online using the newly launched the website
www.shcilestamp.com.
 The services are provided to the people by the Stockholding Corporation of India on behalf
of the stamps and registration department of the state government.

13. AP High court Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and senior
advocate K V Viswanathan elevated as judges of the Supreme
Court of India

 THE Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud has
recommended the elevation of Andhra Pradesh high court Chief Justice Prashant Kumar
Mishra and senior advocate K V Viswanathan as Judges of the Supreme Court of India.
 Viswanathan would be in line to serve as Chief Justice of India from August 12, 2030, till
May 25, 2031. He would be the fourth CJI from the Bar — after former CJIs S M Sikri in
1971 and U U Lalit last year, and Justice P S Narasimha, who is in line for the top post in
2028.

14. Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur appointed as the Chief Justice of the

15. AP CM distributed house site pattas to beneficiaries at R5 Zone in


Amaravati

 Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy distributes house site pattas to beneficiaries at R5
Zone in Amaravati. Distribution of the house site pattas, each measuring one cent, to
50,793 beneficiaries belongs to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
 The Chief Minister also launched distribution of constructed TIDCO flats at a cost of ₹1
each to the beneficiaries.

16. Disha App

The Disha Mobile App, launched three years ago, has created a record with more than 1.17
crore registrations in the State. The App was aimed at safety and security of women. Police,
women protection secretaries and volunteers attached to village and ward sachivalayams,
who launched Disha special drives, registered about 1.17 crore women.

17. 'Best Police Station Award'

Hanumanthunipadu police station in Prakasam district has been selected for the 'Best
Police Station Award' for the year 2022 by the central government for providing quality
services to people.

18. 195 village and ward secretariats declared as Sub- Registrar


offices in Andhra Pradesh

 The Government of Andhra Pradesh has declared 195 village and ward secretariats as
Offices of Sub-Registrar and Joint Sub-Registrar for registration of documents relating to
properties in the villages and wards.
 The State government published two gazettes separately on June 24 for Establishment of
Offices of Sub-Registrars and Joint Sub-Registrars under Section 7 (1) of Registration Act,
1908, and Formation of new Sub District under Section 5 of Registration Act, 1908.

19. Govt-assinged land to be transferable in Andhra Pradesh

 The Andhra Pradesh cabinet amended the Andhra Pradesh Assigned Lands (Prohibition
of Transfers) Act, 1977, there by conferring full rights to those in possession of government
assigned lands for more than 20 years.
 Previously, as per the Andhra Pradesh Assigned Lands (Prohibition of Transfers) Act,
1977, any piece of land assigned by the government to a landless poor for the purpose of
cultivation or as a house-site were not allowed to be transferred and had no right or title
in such assigned land.
 “Now, the state cabinet decided to amend the act by allowing the people to sell or mortgage
or transfer the assigned lands, but only after enjoying the property for a period of more
than 20 years.”
 66,111 farmers would now be able to enjoy full rights on 63,191 acres of land.

20. Foundation stone laid for ₹834 crore campus of Central Tribal
varsity in in Saluru, AP

● Sri. Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon'ble Union Minister for Education and Skill Development
laid the foundation stone to Central Tribal University, to be constructed in an area of 561.88
acres at a cost of Rs.834 Crores in Mentada, Dattirajeru mandals of Saluru Constituency,
Vizianagaram district.

● With a firm determination to set up Tribal University in the Tribal area itself, land was
acquired in Marrivalasa of Dattirajeru mandal and Chinamedapalli of Mentada mandal.

● In addition to allocating Government land, Government paid compensation of Rs. 29.97


Crores to the farmers who gave their lands to the University and is also spending another
Rs. 28.49 Crores for infrastructure facilities

21. Tenali urban mandal 1st to get 100% GER

 Tenali Urban became the first mandal in Andhra Pradesh to achieve a Gross Enrolment
Ratio (GER) of 100. This means every child born between 1 September 2005 and 31 August
2018 in the respective region is enrolled in schools.

22. AP STATE SKILL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (APSSDC)

Context: AP former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested in connection with
an alleged Skill Development scam.

About APSSDC: The Govt. of AP has formed 7 different Missions to achieve double digit growth
for the state and to make AP among the most developed state in the country. Among these,
the Knowledge and Skills Mission has been formed to provide trained and skilled
manpower to all other Missions. To bring the faster execution State Government Andhra
Pradesh has established The Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and
Innovation (DSDEI) has been further created to coordinate and synergize skilling efforts of
all departments, under which APSSDC is formed.

AP POLITY 10
• AP State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) is constituted as an ‘not-for-profit',
‘public-private-partnership’ (PPP) corporation to promote skill development and
entrepreneurship.

• APSSDC acts as a Single umbrella for all the Skill Development initiatives of the state.

Context: To target 20 million people in AP in next 15 years towards skilling and entrepreneurship
to meet skilled human power demands of all Missions and shape AP as the skilled-
workforce and knowledge hub for the world.

Vision : To eliminate the poverty and create decent work for all by investing in the social
capital through employment-oriented and industry aligned skill development and
livelihood generation.

Mission : Identify the gaps in the existing skills ecosystem and upgrade skills to
international standards through significant industry involvement, develop necessary
frameworks for quality assurance and establish state-of-art skill colleges across all MP
Constituencies to redefine employability skills in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
Ensure the effectiveness of the different skill development programs conducted by state
government departments, corporations, societies and agencies by convergence and
standardization.
23. Andhra Pradesh government launched second phase of
Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha on January 2, 2024

 The state Government rolled out second phase of Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha on
January 2, 2024. Earlier Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha (JAS-I) camp was launched in
January, 2023.
 Under this the medical officers will visit every household, screen individuals, and organise
camps for testing and administering medications.

Focus and achievements of Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha (JAS-I)

 The the focus of JAS-I was on the diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from
hypertension, diabetes, leprosy, tuberculosis, and hearing problems.
 Eye care services have been a significant part of the programme, with 8.7 lakh people
undergoing eye tests.
 As early intervention, such as Cochlear implants for children with hearing issues, was a
priority, such patients have been identified and referred for immediate health care.

Focus of Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha (JAS-II)

 JAS II will specifically target chronic patients, pregnant and lactating mothers, neo-natal
and infant care, adolescent health, and persons with chronic diseases.

24. Andhra Pradesh will hold a caste census, becoming the second state
after Bihar

• The caste-based census would be helpful in alleviating the lives of oppressed classes and
taking their social empowerment to the next level. The census would help in assessing the
people who were outside the ambit of welfare schemes. The data would be useful in bringing
down the disparities.

• The government would take up a census on issues such as socio economic, education-based
employment, population disparities.

About Census in India:

 The origin of the Census in India dates back to the colonial exercise of 1881.
 Census is used by the government, policymakers, academics, and others to capture the
Indian population, access resources, map social change, and
conduct delimitation exercises.
 However, it has been criticized as a blunt instrument unsuited for specialized inquiry.

SECC (Socio-Economic and Caste Census):

 SECC was first conducted in 1931 which aimed to collect information on the economic
status of Indian families, both in rural and urban areas, to identify indicators of
deprivation.
 It also collects data on specific caste names to evaluate the economic conditions of
different caste groups.

Difference Between Census & SECC:

 Census provides a general portrait of the Indian population, while SECC is used to identify
beneficiaries of state support.
 Census data is confidential under the Census Act of 1948, while personal information in
SECC is open for use by government departments to grant or restrict benefits to
households.

The History of Caste-based Data Collection in India:

 Caste-based data collection has a long history in India, with information on castes being
included upto 1931.
 Post 1951, the decision to stop collecting caste data was made to move away from a divisive
approach and promote national unity.
 However, with changing socio-political dynamics and the need for accurate information,
there has been a renewed call for a caste census.

Significance of Caste Census:

Constitutional Mandate:

 Our Constitution too favours conducting a caste census. Article 340 mandates the

governments.

25. ‘RYTHU NESTHAM’ APP

 ‘AP Minister for Power formally launched ‘Rythu Nestham’, a mobile and browser
application.
• Minister for Power formally launched ‘Rythu Nestham’, a mobile and browser
application and a chatbot meant for the benefit of farmers, introduced by the
Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL).
• The objective is to release power connections to farmers on demand. Through the
app, it will be possible for the officials to monitor the progress from applying for
the connection till the release of it.
• The software application is aimed at preventing delays in acting on complaints
filed by consumers, especially farmers.

26. QS ASIA UNIVERSITY RANKINGS

 Venkateswara University ranks at 451-500 in QS Asia University rankings 2024.


• It secured 125 Rank in QS Asia University Rankings in Southern Asia. • The QS
Asia University Rankings, the most comprehensive ranking of its kind, shines a

27. GRAMA DARSHINI

 Bapatla district administration launched the Grama Darshini programme

About Grama Darshini programme:

 ▪ With an initiative to ensure that all government welfare and development schemes reach
the public and resolve the issues in villages, AP government launched the Grama Darshini
Program.
 Under this program, officials would be participating in ‘Grama Darshini’ Program to
facilitate grass-root level inspection of villages and submit a report. This program will
help in identifying various public problems and take necessary action to resolve them.
 These include Nadu Nedu works in hospitals, schools, and operation of rythu bharosa
kendrams, village secretariats, Anganwadi centres.

28. AP Ranks first in spending in the social sector.

 Spending on the social sector accounts for 55.71% of the allocated budget. The state spends
the most on education, health, social protection, and rural development.
 CAG releases statistics for the first 6 months of this financial year. Gujarat is in 2nd
position with 42.83% expenditure.
 Social sector expenditure means expenditure on education, health, agriculture, rural
development, urban development, nutrition, sanitation and water supply. In this regard,
the CAG stated that the state government has spent more than other states on education,
medical and welfare schemes.

29. The Land Titling Act came into force for the first time in the country
in AP.

● For the first time in India, the Land Titling Act was enacted in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
This law will be applicable from October 31, the government said in the recently issued
GO.512. This Act fully protects the rights of landowners and purchasers. No one can sell
the land except the landowners. A purchase register will also be created in the state, already
incorporating a dispute register and a permanent register of titles.

● Along with the implementation of this Act, AP Land Authority will be established, and a
special Chief Secretary will also be appointed. Anyone who has objections to the register of
landowners has to approach the Revenue Tribunal and cannot go directly to the courts but
has been given the option of challenging the verdict in the High Court.

30. ‘ROAD ACCIDENTS IN ANDHRA PRADESH – 2022’

● In November, 2023, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has published a Report
titled- ‘Road Accidents in India-2022', shedding light on the concerning trends in road
accidents and fatalities.
● The State logged a mere dip of 1.4 per cent in the number of road accidents reported in 2022
compared to the previous year, however, the fatalities increased slightly by 1.3 per cent during
the same period of time.
● The data revealed that Andhra reported 8,293 deaths in 21,249 road accidents in 2022,
while it registered 8,186 deaths in 21,556 road mishaps in 2021. Andhra stood seventh in
injuries caused by road crashes, eighth in deaths and ninth in accidents across the country
in the last year.
● Vizag secured the first rank in terms of road safety as it achieved the highest drop of 34.5%
in road accidents in 2022.
● With a 31.4% drop in the number of accidents, Chennai secured second rank, while Patna
and Mumbai stood third and fourth, respectively.

 Brasilia Declaration on Road Safety (2015): The declaration was signed at the
second Global High-Level Conference on Road Safety held in Brazil. India is a signatory to
the Declaration.
The countries plan to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 3.6 i.e., to halve the number
of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents by 2030.

 Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030: The UN General Assembly adopted
resolution "Improving global road safety " with the ambitious target of preventing at least
50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030. The Global Plan aligns with the Stockholm
Declaration, by emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach to road safety.

31. Crime rate in Andhra declined by about 8 per cent in 2023

• Average crime rate in the State has declined by 8.13% as a total of 1,61,334 cases under IPC
and special local laws (SLL) have been reported in 2023, against 1,75,612 cases in 2022.

• There is less number of incidents of bodily offences such as murders, cases related to
attempt to murders which was made possible by involving the police from the grassroots
level to identify and settle the issues in the earlier stage.

• Road Accidents: The State saw a 7.83% decline in road accidents.

● Atrocities against women and Children: - The drop in atrocities against women and
children is attributed to effective implementation of visible policing, Disha initiatives and
Mahila police intervention. - The total number of cases pertaining to women atrocities has
seen a decline of 19.5%. - Decline in rape cases by 28.57% with 510 cases. - Similarly, there
was also a decline in dowry deaths, POCSO and women harassment cases.
● Cybercrime: There is a decrease in the number of complaints regarding cybercrime offences
by 25.5%. Special social media cells are established at both district and state level to
monitor the social media platforms to tackle cyber abuse.

32. NCRB DATA

● National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) recently released the data in crimes in India, in 2022.
A total of 1,95,284 cognizable crimes including 1,58,547 Indian Penal Code (IPC) crimes and
36,737 Special and Local Laws (SLL) crimes were registered in 2022 in Andhra Pradesh.

o It shows a decline of 12% in registration of cases over 2021. According to the annual crime
report by NCRB, Andhra Pradesh ranks 11th in India in terms of overall crime
rate as per the latest Crime in India 2022 report.

• Crimes against women: Andhra Pradesh saw an alarming rise of 43% in the number of
crimes against women in the year 2022. AP stood 6th in the country in the number of cases
of crime against women with 25,503 cases of crime against women, as against 17,752 in
2021.

 Crimes against Children: As many as 3,308 cases of crime against children were
reported. This was against 2,669 cases in 2021. Of the total cases, 2,136 were booked under
various sections of the POCSO Act.

• Cybercrimes: Andhra Pradesh has seen rise in cybercrimes with 2,341 cases in 2022, i.e.,
an increase of 24% over 2021. AP stood 5 th in the country in cybercrimes, while Karnataka
stood in the first place, followed by Telangana, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. In AP,
Visakhapatnam district stood first, which was followed by Guntur.

• Other crimes: Murders: AP Pradesh reported 925 murders during the year 2022.
Tirupati reported the most number of cases, followed by Nellore. o Road Accidents: The
total number of road accidents decreased by 3% with 21,070 road accidents in which 8,293
persons died in the year 2022.

* Suicides: There were 8,908 suicide cases in the State in 2022.

* Human Trafficking: AP stands at the 7th place with 6,036 victims and 2,250 cases in
2022, an increase of 2.8% over 2021.

• NCRB has released ‘Prison Statistics Report-2022’

• Andhra Pradesh has secured the 4 th position nationwide for the highest
number of jails in the country, boasting a total of 106 jails. Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu,
and Madhya Pradesh are the top three states with the highest number of jails.

34. GOVT TO TRAIN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN FUTURE SKILLS

 The State government has issued GO to launch a new scheme aimed at empowering
B.Tech. and B.Sc computer science students and contributing to the enhancement of
technology education in government schools.
 Under the future technologies scheme, graduation students will serve as technology
mentors and impart their knowledge to school teachers. They will assist teachers in

35. ANGANWADI WORKERS

 Context: Anganwadi workers in the state are agitating and called for the strike in support
of their multiple charter of demands including pay hike and pension.
 Anganwadi is a type of child and mother care centre that was established as a part of the
Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) program, aimed at addressing their
nutritional and health needs.

Schemes Under the ICDS:

Anganwadi Services Scheme:

 It is a unique programme for early childhood care and development.


 The beneficiaries under the Scheme are children in the age group of 0-6 years, pregnant
women and lactating mothers.
 It provides a package of six services namely supplementary nutrition, pre-school non-
formal education, nutrition & health education, immunisation, health check-up and
referral services.
 Supplementary Nutrition includes Take Home Ration (THR), Hot Cooked Meal and
morning snacks and holds importance for many vulnerable households as it impacts the
nutritional outcome of the children.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana:

* It provides cash incentive amounting to Rs.5,000/- in three instalments directly to the


Bank/Post Office Account of Pregnant Women and Lactating Mother (PW&LM) in DBT
(Direct Benefit Transfer) Mode during pregnancy and lactation in response to individual
fulfilling specific conditions.

National Creche Scheme:

 It provides day care facilities to children of age group of 6 months to 6 years of working
women. The facilities are provided for seven and half hours a day for 26 days in a month.
 Children are provided with supplementary nutrition, early childcare education, and health
and sleeping facilities.

Scheme for Adolescent Girls:

 It aims at out of school girls in the age group 11-14, to empower and improve their social
status through nutrition, life skills and home skills.
 The scheme has nutritional and non nutritional components which include nutrition; iron
and folic acid supplementation; health check up and referral service; nutrition and health
education; mainstreaming out of school girls to join formal schooling bridge course/ skill
training; life skill education, home management etc,; counselling/ guidance on accessing
public services.

Child Protection Scheme:

 It aims to contribute to the improvement and well-being of children in difficult


circumstances, as well as, reduction of vulnerabilities to situations and actions that lead
to abuse, neglect, exploitation, abandonment and separation of children from parents.

POSHAN Abhiyaan:

 It targets to reduce the level of stunting, under-nutrition, anaemia and low birth weight
babies by reducing mal-nutrition/undernutrition, anaemia among young children as also,
focus on adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

Major Objectives of ICDS:

 To improve the nutritional and health status of children in the age-group 0-6 years.
 To lay the foundation for proper psychological, physical and social development of the
child.
 To reduce the incidence of mortality, morbidity, malnutrition and school dropout.
 To achieve effective coordination of policy and implementation amongst the various
departments to promote child development.

Embarking on a literary odyssey spanning two years, renowned poet Chigurumalla

commence ‘Vande Vishwamataram Shanti Sadbhavana Yatra’ to propagate global peace
and universal brotherhood across the world.

16. NOLAMBA PALLAVAS


As a part of research on Nolamba Pallava kingdom, the historical place – Cholemarri was
examined. Ancient inscriptions, hero stones and idols of Shiva Linga and Nandi have been
unearthed at Cholemarri, in Sri Sathya Sai district.
• An inscription of Mahendra Nolambadhi Raja (875-897), the ruler of Henjeru (now known
as Hemavati, near Madakasira), was unearthed in the fields on the eastern side of
Cholemarri.

• A Telugu inscription dating back to the Vijayanagara Dynasty was spotted on the hero
stones from the Nolamba and Vijayanagara periods.
 About Cholemarri: It was identified that a fierce battle between Nolamba Pallavas and
Bana Kings took place at Cholemarri. Nolamba Pallava king Mahendra Raja emerged
victorious in this battle.

o Nolamba Pallavas ruled from Henjeru (Hemavati) as their capital. o Banas ruled
from the Nandi near Chikkaballapuram. • Cholemarri village was originally known as
Soremadi, which gained historical significance as the Battle of Soremadi. • The Banas in
Chedalla village near Punganur, erected a Veeragallu and documented the war on it. • Hero
Stones and statue of Nolamba Pallava King Mahendra was unearthed in agricultural fields
of Cholemarri village.
Nolamba Kingdom: They ruled parts of present-day Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and
Tamil Nadu, with Hemavati (Henjeru) as their capital until 1052 CE from 730 CE. → The
Royal Emblem – Padma Nandi figure – was found on the gold coins minted by Nolamba
Pallavas.

17. NEOLITHIC-AGE ROCK ART IN PRAKASAM


NEOLITHIC-AGE ROCK ART IN PRAKASAM : Recent discovery of petroglyphs,
pictographs and Dolmens by four historians in the Yerragondapalem mandal limits of
Prakasam district has pointed towards the existence of Neolithic-age human settlements
in the region.
• The team discovered three drawings of hump-back oxen, a trident, a few bird-like figures
and unidentifiable patterns on the surface of the stones near Chakrala Bodu in Boyalapalli
village. They also found a few rock carving tools and two Dolmens, which are described
as a stone monument made of two or more upright stones with a single stone lying across
them. These megalithic structures are considered to be human burial chambers

18. Poet 'Molla' Jayanti as state festival


 Andhra Pradesh government has declared the birth anniversary of Athukuri Mollamamba
(Molla), the first Telugu poetess who translated Valmiki's Ramayana in Telugu into
Telugu. It has issued instructions to all government departments and collectors to
officially organize this program on March 13 every year.

19. Vishwakarma Jayanti as a state festival


The government has issued Go.No. 24 declaring Vishwakarma Jayanthi, which is
celebrated on September 17 every year, as a state festival. On September 14, the BC Welfare
Department issued an order to all government departments and district collectors to
officially celebrate Vishwakarma Jayanti.
20. Gurram Joshua Literary Award for Repaka
 Abhyudaya Writers Association NTR district secretary Repaka Raghunandan has been
selected for Gurram Joshua National Literary Award by Andhra Pradesh Bahujan Writers
Forum.
 Repaka, who hails from Tiruvuru in NTR district, has written many works in Telugu and
Hindi languages and has written the biography of Paidimarri Venkata Subbarao, the
author of Pratijna (Bharata Desam Na Matrubhumi). Apart from presenting poems and
works on air, his poems have been published in many magazines.

21. Bojjannakonda
Recently, the Central government has sanctioned 7.30 crore rupees for taking up
landscaping and development of tourist amenities at Bojjannakonda site.
About Bojjannakonda:
 It is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The site was excavated under the aegis of
Alexander Rim in 1906. It was originally known as 'Buddhuni konda' (hill of the Buddha),
but it came to be known as 'Bojjannakonda' in the course of time.
 Buddhist monks used to practice on the hill about 2,000 years ago. A gold coin belonging
to the Samudra Gupta period, copper coins of the Chalukya king Kubja Vishnu Vardhan,
coins of Andhra Satavahanas and pottery were discovered at the site.

22. Rayalaseema thermal plant in Andhra Pradesh named after MVR.


The State government has issued orders renaming Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant
(RTPP) as Dr MVR Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant in memory of trade union leader,

contribution of MVR to Rayalaseema and following several representations from people

23. Leather Puppetry
Leather puppetry, an ancient art form in Andhra Pradesh, is facing extinction.
What is Leather puppetry?
It is an ancient art form that involves the use of puppets made from goat skin. Puppeteers
craft puppets depicting characters from Hindu mythology, and performances often revolve
around themes from epics like Ramayana and Mahabharatha.
24. VIJAYANAGARA-ERA TEMPLES
 Three Vijayanagara-era temples identified in Sathya Sai district in Andhra Pradesh.

• Three Vijayanagara-era temples – Siva and Vishnu Temples, were spotted in the
agricultural fields near Mallela and Kondapuram villages in Gorantla Mandal of Sri Sathya
Sai district. A big hero stone was also unearthed.
 Based on the architecture, the three temples belong to the Vijayanagara period. An
inscription on a hero stone by Vijayanagara emperor Sadasivaraya (1543 CE) in
Kondapuram, written in Kannada, highlighted the donation of land to the Chennakesava
temple at Penukonda.
 Earlier another rare Hero Stone inscription of Maha Sati Memorial (Veeragallu) dating
back to 1405 AD, was also found in the Sathya Sai district. The inscription written in
Kannada read ‘Swastisri Jayabhudaya Saka Varsha 12 (3) 27, Parthiva Samvatsra, Kartika,
ba.10, Monday’.

25. PALNATI VEERARADHANA UTSAVALU


* The historical Palnati Veeraradhana Utsavalu is celebrated in Karampudi village of
Palnadu district. As part of the 5-day festival, Rachagavu, Rayabaram, Kodiporu,
Kallipadu and Chapakudu will be held.
• These utsavalu are conducted every year to mark the famous Palnati Yuddham fought
between brothers Nalagama Raju and Malideva Raju in 1182 CE.
• Palnati Veerula Gudi was constructed at Karampudi and utsavalu have been organised to

Hyderabad-based drug maker Granules India has partnered with Greenko ZeroC to create a
carbon-free greenfield pharmaceutical manufacturing facility at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.
 The pharmaceutical manufacturing facility will be spread across 100 acres and will be
developed at the expected cost of Rs 2,000 crore over the period of five years.
 According to Granules India, the partnership will help the company achieve its
sustainability and green chemistry goals by reducing its carbon footprint
 The project will be commissioned in phases and it will use carbon free energy and green
hydrogen derivatives to produce products like paracetamol, metformin, and other active
pharmaceutical ingredients. Granules India has a large customer base for its paracetamol,
metformin-based products and active pharmaceutical ingredients across globe.

5. PM Modi virtually inaugurated Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam


Vande Bharat train on Sankranti
● The made-in-India Vande Bharat Express, the eighth in the series and second fastest train
in the country, that is equipped with world-class passenger amenities, was inaugurated
from Visakhapatnam to Secunderabad on January 16.

● The train will cut travel time between the two cities by two hours. On its regular schedule,
the Vande Bharat Express will also be the only day train between the two cities that are
about 690 km apart.
● The Vande Bharat Express will cover the distance in 8:30 hours, against 10:30 hours for
the next fastest train, the overnight Duronto Express.

9. Govt approved Rs 28.11cr loan for Andhra tobacco farmers


 The government has approved Rs 28.11 crore to extend the interest-free loan to tobacco
farmers of Andhra Pradesh. This measure will help the FCV (Flue Cured Virginia) tobacco
farmers overcome the damage caused by Mandous Cyclonic rains, the commerce ministry
said in a statement. The interest-free loan to eligible farmers will be administered by the
Tobacco Board, it added.
 FCV tobacco is a major commercial crop grown in 10 districts of Andhra Pradesh, with an
annual production of 121 million kg (2021-22) grown in an area of 66,000 hectares.

the state secured top spots in the Citizen Perception Survey.

on (NH-544G) Bengaluru–Vijayawada Economic Corridor in Hybrid Annuity Mode in
Andhra Pradesh.

The Hybrid Annuity Model combines two infrastructure construction models, namely the BOT-Annuity and
the EPC.Government has approved the hybrid annuity model (HAM) for building National Highways
(NH) to speed up the construction of roads in the country by renewing interest of private developers
in highway projects. 40% the Project Cost is to be provided by the Government as Construction
Support during the construction period and the balance 60% as annuity payments over the operations
period along with interest thereon to the concessionaire

12. Andhra Pradesh gets first State-level Atal Tinkering Lab Hub in
the country
The teachers of the hubs will be trained in State Hub every month on a weekly basis
through an online session that will also be conducted in all the 713 labs.
● In order to bring out the innate talent and creativity of the students, the Andhra Pradesh
Education Department has set up a State-level Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) Hub, which is a
first of its kind in the country.

Penamalur Zilla Parishad High School, which is established at a cost of `12 lakhs with

13. Upper Bhadra project could deprive west Rayalaseema of it’s share
of water
The decision of the Union government to provide ₹5,300-crore assistance to the
Upper Bhadra Lift Irrigation Project, which will divert 29.90 tmcft of water from Tunga
and Bhadra to irrigate central Karnataka areas, has created a sense of deprivation among
the people of Kurnool and Anantapur districts, as it could deprive them or delay getting
their share of allocated water from the Tungabhadra Dam.
● “It is unfair on behalf of the Centre to ignore the Siddeswaram and Gundrevula projects
while according national status to the Upper Bhadra Project. In the second stage, lifting of
29.90 tmcft of water from Bhadra to a tunnel near Ajjampura, in Tungabhadra sub-basin
of Krishna basin, will affect the region very badly but the Andhra Pradesh politicians seem
to be not bothered about Rayalaseema drought conditions and did not bother about
getting funds to bring water to this region despite Finance Minister Bugganna
Rajendranath going to New Delhi several times and being in politics for past 10 years,”

18. Foundation stone for JSW Group's proposed steel plant


Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy laid the foundation stone for JSW Group's

84. AP No.1 in pumped storage projects

hydropower is a type of hydroelectric energy storage project. It is built on two water
reservoirs at different heights. These plants operate like conventional hydroelectric plants.
In addition to this there is the ability to reuse the same water over and over again.
 Pumped Storage Hydropower Project (PSP) has been initiated and implemented and has
become the first in the country in terms of PSP capacity. This has been disclosed by the
Union Ministry of Renewable Energy. It said that the states of Rajasthan, Telangana,
Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are in the next positions of AP.

85. ANNAMAYYA PROJECT


 Even two years after the Annamayya Project got washed away in the deluge, the works for
its reconstruction are yet to be grounded. Project investigation is still under progress and
officials are waiting for design approval.

 In November, 2021, the earthen bund of Annamayya project on Cheyyeru river collapsed
due to unprecedented inflows following heavy rains in the upper catchment areas of the
project.
 The project, with a storage capacity of 2.239 TMC and a discharge rate of 1.18 lakh cusecs,
had received inflows at the rate of 3.2 lakh cusecs in just a few hours and the dam could
not sustain the pressure.
 Annamayya Project: Annamayya Project is a completed Medium Irrigation Project
constructed across Cheyyeru, a tributary to Penna River located near Badanagadda,
Kadapa District.
 The project was taken up in the year 1981 and completed in the year 2001. The total ayacut
is 22,500 acres.

86. Vizag hosted global Congress on irrigation in November.


The 25th Congress of the International Commission on Irrigation & Drainage (ICID) and
7th International Executive Council (IC) meeting of ICID will be held in Visakhapatnam
from November 2 to 8, Collector A. Mallikarjuna said. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan
Reddy will attend the programme, which will be held under the aegis of Indian National
Committee on Irrigation & Drainage (INCID).

87. International Conference on Irrigation and Drainage opened at


Visakhapatnam.
● Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekawat said best agricultural practices are necessary for
efficient use of water resources. He said the country is currently facing a water storage
capacity of 250 billion cubic meters.
● Capacity is increased through many projects. The conference will focus on the best
solutions for water reuse and new management methods while protecting water resources.
Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy said, “Water shortage is a major problem in the
agriculture sector. The rainy season has shortened.
● Water stored in ponds must be used with caution. There are 40 large, medium and small
rivers in Andhra Pradesh. It has been a major agricultural state for many centuries. We

water resources for irrigation purposes.

88. L&T bags contract to construct airport in Andhra's Bhogapuram


● The buildings, factories and transportation infrastructure businesses of L&T Construction
have secured a project from GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited for the
construction of the greenfield Bhogapuram International Airport at Bhogapuram in
Andhra Pradesh.
● The project cost is estimated to be in the Rs 2,500-5,000 crore range, the multinational
company said in a release. The project will initially be developed to handle 6 million
passengers per year, with capacity to be further enhanced to a capacity of 12 MPA.

89. Land allocation for industries is more flexible


 The allocation system is based sale deed system instead of lease system.
 Agreement to sell on full payment
 Final sale documents after compliance of all norms as per DPR
 Department of Industries issued orders As part of trade facilitation, the state government
has further simplified land allotment for industries. Under the Industrial Policy 2023-27,
the Industries Department has issued an order for the industries to purchase land directly
instead of under lease. Secretary of Industries Department N. Yuvraj mentioned in those
orders. Procedures related to this have also been incorporated.

According to the latest orders :


❖ If those setting up micro and small-scale industries pay the land value in one go, APICC
or the Industries Department will immediately enter into a land purchase agreement with
them.
❖ If all the agreements made with the government while setting up the project are completed
within the specified time frame, then the final sale deed will be given allotting the full
rights on the land.
❖ In the case of medium, large and heavy industries.. Even if the projects are undertaken in
phases, if the entire land value is paid at once, a sale agreement will be made.
❖ Also, final sale deed will be issued after full implementation of the project in phase wise as
per DPR.

90. German EV manufacturing unit to come up at Andhra Pradesh's
Punganur
Pepper Motion, a German-based electric vehicle manufacturer, is gearing up to establish
the world's largest electric bus and truck manufacturing unit in Punganur, Chittoor
district. The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated 800 acres for this substantial
project, involving an investment of Rs 4,640 crore. Chittoor district collector S
Shanmohan, along with a delegation from Pepper Motion led by CEO Andreas Hager,
visited the proposed site in Punganur to officially announce the venture.

91. AP ranked second in health and wellness centers.


Andhra Pradesh ranked second in the country in terms of health and wellness centers. It
is noteworthy that health services are provided to the people in all centers of the state.
According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as of July this year,
1,60,480 healthcare centers were functional in all states and Union Territories of the
country.
Most of these centers are operating in Uttar Pradesh with 21,891, followed by Andhra
Pradesh with 11,855. After AP, the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal
and Bihar have the highest number of health and wellness centers.

92. VARIKAPUDISELA LIFT IRRIGATION SCHEME

Varikapudisela Lift Irrigation Scheme (LIS) at Macherla in Palnadu district. • KRMB urged

● About Varikapudisela project: The Varikapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme is a major
irrigation project in the Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh, India. • The idea of the project
was conceived in 1952. Even though the foundation stone for the project was laid three
times by former chief ministers—in 1996, 2008 and 2017, the project did not move
forward.
● The State government took up the project under the ‘YSR Palnadu Drought
Mitigation Project’, It aims to provide irrigation to over 1.2 lakh acres of land in 183
villages across six mandals in the district and alleviate the water woes that have plagued
the region for decades. The project was inaugurated in 2015 and is expected to be fully
completed by 2024. It is estimated to cost₹340.26 crore with an aim to providing

irrigation and drinking water facilities to upland areas. It will also generate
hydroelectricity. The project will also help to reduce salinity and improve groundwater
recharge in the region. Designed to lift 1.547 tmc ft of water from Varikapudivagu, the
Project involves a pump house near Gangulakunta. Under the first phase of the
Varikapudisela project, as many as 24,900 acres of land will be irrigated, covering seven
villages of Veldurthi mandal in Palnadu district. The second phase of the project aims to
irrigate more than 1 lakh acres of land and provide drinking water to 80,000 people. After
the completion of the project, about 72,776 acres of land will get irrigation water in
Palnadu region. This will supply 281 cusecs of water through four pumps and drinking
water to 20,000 people. Once completed, the Varikapudisela project is expected to benefit
31 villages in three assembly constituencies.

93. INCREASE IN PER CAPITA ENERGY CONSUMPTION IN STATE


According to Andhra Pradesh Energy Department, the per capita energy consumption in
Andhra Pradesh increased to 1,357 kilowatt hours (kwh) in the financial year 2023 from
1,234 kwh in the financial year 2019.
• The rise in per capita electricity consumption, about 10%, is a significant indicator of
improved living standards and overall wellbeing for the citizens. • AP power distribution
sector has made good progress during 2023 as they have completed installation of 51 lakh
smart meters to electricity consumers with consumption of more than 200 units per
month. Performance of AP Power sector in 2023:
• Works to the tune of Rs. 13,000 crores have been initiated in all three discoms under the
Revamped Distribution Sector scheme (RDSS). o The RDSS Scheme aims to reduce the
Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses and reduce Average Cost of Supply
(ACS)-Average Revenue Realised (ARR) gap to zero by 2024-25. o AP discoms reported
one of the lowest AT&C losses in the country at 10.60% for FY23.
• The installed power generation capacity of Andhra Pradesh is 26,483 MW including
thermal, hydel, gas, nuclear, and renewable energy. • Renewable energy contributes 40%
of the total installed capacity, with 4,287 MW of solar, 4,084 MW of wind, 1,780 MW of
Hydel and 521 MW of other RE sources.

94. SULIYARI COAL BLOCK MINE
 The AP Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) generated about Rs 1,000 crore
revenue through the coal production and sales from the Suliyari coal block it operates in
Madhya Pradesh.
 Out of the total Rs 1,500 crore revenue, it got through the sale of coal from the Suliyari
mines, the APMDC paid Rs 500 crore towards taxes to Centre and State governments and
earned a record Rs 1,000 crore revenue.
 The APMDC kept a target to produce 5 MT of coal from Suliyari block and to generate Rs
1,700 crore revenue in 2023-24, but achieved Rs 1,000 crore revenue.

95. MINING IN ANDHRA PRADESH


The 53rd meeting of the State Geological Programming Board, involving various mining
exploration agencies such as GSI, MECL, ONGC, IBM, and MOIL discussed the innovative
mine exploration procedures. The share of mining is 1.5% in the GDP and 2.7% in the
GSDP. 56 blocks have been earmarked for the mining exploration agencies in the State for
mining of major minerals.
Mining in AP:
• Andhra Pradesh is a mineral rich state containing vast mineral wealth, hence called
‘RatnaGarbha’ and minerals are one of the main sources of revenue to AP.
• The State Mineral and Mining sector contributed Rs. 2094 crores of Mineral Revenue to
the state exchequer in 2022- 23. The state has developed Online system for regulation of
buying, storing, transportation of minerals to curb evasion of mineral revenue the state.
• AP was conferred with the ‘SKOCH Silver Award’ under Digital India and the ‘SKOCH
Order of Merit’ award for Online System for Mineral Audit.
* District Mineral Funds (DMF) trusts have been established in all the 26 districts under the
chairmanship of District Collector.

99. NIIF TO INVEST IN BHOGAPURAM AIRPORT


* National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) is set to invest up to Rs 6.75 billion
in the greenfield airport at Bhogapuram, which is being developed by GMR Airports
Limited (GAL).
• A Special Purpose Vehicle established to develop and operate the Bhogapuram
International Greenfield Airport.

100. INLAND WATER TRANSPORT


* According to AP Inland Waterways Authority (APIWA), around 8 million tonnes per
annum (MTPA) is being moved through inland water transport in Andhra Pradesh.
• Various projects to facilitate movement of domestic and export-import cargo of cement
and power plants in the State through inland waterways are under formulation. o
Example: The cluster of cement industries located at Muktyala/Jaggayyapeta are
connected to the network of inland waterways along Krishna River and Bandar Canal
through Kakinada port and Machilipatnam port.
 The power plant in Kadapa region is connected to Penna River through Krishnapatnam
port.
 Andhra Pradesh has about 57 small, medium and large rivers with huge river delta spread
and a vast coastline of 975 km which could be tapped for immense port-led development.

101. MOU WITH QCI TO TRANSFORM AGRI SECTOR


* The Quality Council of India (QCI) and the State government have inked a pact to
transform the agriculture sector at the Andhra Pradesh.
• As part of the collaboration, the QCI will provide extensive technical support to agriculture
and allied sectors, fuelling AP’s journey towards Viksit Bharat.

• The NAAC committee appreciated the initiatives of Andhra University (AU) in the area of
Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), which have led to the filing of nearly 100 patents by the

21. RUSHIKONDA BEACH

Centre urged to probe Rushikonda violations.


Story so far :
• The AP government took a decision to demolish existing cottages on Rushikonda, and
construct ultra-modern cottages and resorts on the hill, to enhance tourism.
• Accordingly, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) had obtained
the CRZ clearance from MoEFCC that it would undertake only modification of an existing
area of 9.88 acres. Any further extension of construction on Rushikonda, that too in the
CRZ limits, would be deleterious to conservation of ecology of the hill.
• Environmental Activists say the project deviated from the initial promise of only
rebuilding new structures in the place of old ones and is causing destruction to the hill and
petitions were filed against the APTDC for violating the CRZ norms.
About Rushikonda:
• According to mythological stories the hill was named Rushikonda as revered ‘Sapta Rishis’
had performed penance on it. Rushikonda beach was labelled as Blue Flag beach by
Foundation of Environment Education (FEE). • The hill is strategically located between
the Dolphin’s nose and Bheemunipatnam, near Vizag.

22. AIR QUALITY INDEX

24. EASTERN GHATS BIODIVERSITY CENTRE

 Authorities ban private vehicles on Vanjangi hill More about news: • Tourists visiting
Vanjangi hill will now have to avail themselves of a jeep ride in order to reach the hilltop
as the district administration has banned the entry of private vehicles on the ghat road.
 The decision has been taken to check pollution, traffic congestion on the ghat road, and
avoid accidents.
Vanjangi hill:
• Vanjangi hill which is popularly known as ‘Meghala Konda’ (a hill of floating clouds), is
one of the most sought-after tourist destinations. • The hill range is located 3,400 ft above
mean sea level and named after Vanajangi village, a small hamlet.
• The number of tourists visiting Vanjangi hill is more compared with the footfalls at
Lambasingi (Lambsingi in Chintapalli mandal records zero degree Celsius during winter).
• The authorities constituted a team of volunteers, which was entrusted with the
responsibility of cleaning the tourist hotspot twice a week, apart from creating awareness
among the tourists about the importance of not littering the area.

27. 'Sea-Safe' for natural births

Special measures taken by the State Medical Department to reduce caesarean births
▪ Action to control unnecessary caesarean deliveries
▪ Designed in collaboration with UNICEF, University of Birmingham, UK The state
government is working hard to reduce caesarean births and increase natural births in the
state by training doctors and staff in the 6 hospitals selected soon.
● As part of this, the Medical and Health Department is already taking many special
measures. Another program called 'Sea-Safe' is being launched in the same order.
According to World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, cesarean sections should not
exceed 10 to 15 percent of all deliveries.
● However, 45 percent of all deliveries in the state are by caesarean section. More than 50
percent of private hospitals and 32 percent of government hospitals have this type of
delivery. As a result, many measures have already been taken to control abortions in
government hospitals. Meanwhile, 'Sea-Safe' will be launched soon.

29. Artificial Intelligence from Class VI

CM Jagan in the review of education department The state government has


decided to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) as a subject from the sixth standard in
government schools. A special app will be made available to teach AI curriculum.
● It is mentioned that we are connecting the nearby engineering colleges for teacher training
and teaching programs. CM Jagan said.. 'A plan should be made to bring the International
Baccalaureate (IB) syllabus into government schools.
● A phased implementation of this should also be studied. The existing syllabus should be
planned so that the integration and transition of the IB syllabus is smooth and easy.
● The second batch of tabs should be prepared for this year. The state chief minister
suggested that classes should be given to school children on the use of these with digital

30. Identification of lithium reserves in AP

Geological Survey of India has identified lithium deposits on the border of Anantapur and
YSR districts. GSI has estimated that these reserves will be around 5 square km in Lingala,
Tadimarri and Ellanur mandals of these two districts. It is estimated that these reserves
are especially around Penshikala Basireddy Reservoir in Lingala Mandal. A few months
ago, the GSI submitted its report to the Centre.

31. ORPHAN DISEASES

Chief Minister inaugurated the second tunnel of Owk project, an integral component of
Galeru-Nagari Sujala Sravanthi (GNSS) flood canal, in Nandyala district. 20,000 cusecs
of water from Gorakallu reservoir to Owk reservoir. • The Owk Project is aimed at meeting
the irrigation and drinking water needs of the Rayalaseema region.

33. UCIL PLANT IN TUMMALAPALLE

The Centre said studies by various institutes, including IIT Madras, have revealed that the
tailing pond of the Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) in Tummalapalle of
Kadapa district is not contributing to the groundwater contamination in the region.

• The villages in the YSR Kadapa district protested against the mining operations of UCIL.
Farmers complained of white dust on their crops, which are now stunted, and
groundwater pollution, causing skin problems and diseases.

• Studies were also conducted on the farmers’ concerns of low crop yield or stunted growth
of plants in the surrounding villages, and found that the UCIL operations have not
contaminated agriculture lands in the area.

34. NAGARAVANAMS

* In a major boost to eco-tourism in Andhra Pradesh, the forest department officials are
gearing up to develop over 100 Nagaravanams in urban areas across the State.
• As part of AP Eco-Tourism Project, over 44 Nagaravanams are being developed across the

• The olive Ridley gets its name from the olive green colour of its heart-shaped shell.
• The species is among the smallest of the world’s sea turtles and is found primarily in the
tropical regions of the Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic oceans.
• These turtles are carnivores and get their name from their olive-colored carapace.
• They are best known for their unique mass nesting called Arribada, where thousands of
females come together on the same beach to lay eggs.
• The species is listed as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List, Appendix 1 in CITES, and
Schedule 1 in Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
About Olive Ridley Turtle Conservation:
• Olive Turtle conservation project started in 2017.
• During December to March, many Olive Ridley turtles come to the western coast of
Maharashtra and lay their eggs.
• These eggs are then guarded by a group of volunteers against predators and poachers.

38. Yet another feather in the cap of ISRO: SSLV- D2 successfully
launched from Sriharikota

 The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched SSLV-D2 from
Sriharikota today (10.02.2023) at 9.18 hrs. The Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)
successfully injected EOS-07 satellite and two co- passenger satellites- Janus-1 and
AzaadiSAT-2 into 450 km circular orbit.

 The launch vehicle which has the capacity to launch mini, micro or nano satellites into
500 km planar orbit has three stages of solid propulsion and liquid propulsion based
velocity trimming module. It provides low-cost access to space, offers low turn-around
time and flexibility in accommodating multiple satellites and demands minimal launch
infrastructure.

 The EOS-07 satellite weighing 156.3 kg, developed by ISRO has a mission life of 1 year.
The mission objective was to design and develop payload instruments compatible with a
micro satellite bus and new technologies that are required for future operational satellites
and to design and develop a micro satellite accommodating new technology payloads in a
quick turn-around time.

 The 10.2kg Janus-1 is a technology demonstrator smart satellite, based on USA’s Antaris
software platform. On the other hand, the AzaadiSAT-2 weighing around 8.8kg has been
developed by a team of Space Kidz India, a Chennai based Indian Aerospace Startup.
About 750 girl students were guided to develop the payloads. The NanoSAT aims to
demonstrate LoRa and amateur radio communication capabilities, measuring radiation
levels in space.

1. BEL’s defence system integrated complex in Satya Sai district

 Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has sanctioned Rs 384 crore under phase-one towards
construction of a unit at Palasamudram in Sri Satya Sai district.
 Besides manufacturing missiles and testing radar, it has decided to develop the facility as
a defence system integrated complex to manufacture state-of-art defence equipment.
 Under the chairmanship of BEL director Parthasarathy, the Capital Investment
Committee of the PSU, met at Machilipatnam on Saturday and decided to invite tenders
for the project, a statement released to this effect said.
 The progress of the facility will be reviewed every six months. It may be noted that Andhra
Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) had allotted 914 acres to BEL in
2016 to establish the facility.

YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus is intended to supply nutritious food in 77 tribal mandals.
 Scope of coverage 77 Scheduled and Tribal sub plan mandals spread over 7 Integrated
Tribal Development Agency (ITDAs) of Sitampeta, Parvatipuram, Paderu,
Rampachodavaram, Chinturu, K.R.Puram and Srisailam and 8 districts in the State.
 Eligibility Criteria: The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for
the scheme:- Only pregnant women and lactating mothers in the state can apply for the
scheme. Kids can also apply for the scheme. The applicant must belong to a lower income
group or backward categories. The applicants must be in the domicile of Andhra Pradesh.
The candidate between 6 to 72 months old will get the benefit under the scheme.
 Under the YSR Sampoorna Poshana Plus programme, 2 kgs of ragi powder, 1 kg of rice
flakes, half a kg of jaggery, half a kg of chikki, half a kg of dry fruits, 3 kgs of rice, 1 kg red
gram, half a kg of edible oil, 25 eggs and 5 litres of milk are given to the beneficiaries.

2. YSR Sports Incentive scheme

YSR Sports Incentive scheme: The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh ordered the
Sports Incentive Scheme to encourage of sports. Talented athletes who have won national
medals will earn grants when this system is implemented. The benefits will promote real
sportsmanship. The money will be deposited through Direct Benefit Transfer. First,
second, and third place winners will get Rs. 5 lakhs, Rs. 4 lakhs, and Rs. 3 lakhs. Junior

3. YSR Adarsham Scheme :

YSR Adarsham gives self employment opportunities for unemployment youth. The
youth are given a vehicle for transportation of sand and other essential commodities
through Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC), Andhra Pradesh
Civil Supplies Corporation (APCSC), Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporation Limited
(APBCL) and other government agencies.
 Benefits to the citizens: The vehicles will be given to the unemployed youth to provide self
employment opportunities by APMDC, APCSC & APBCL corporations for transportation
of sand & other items. By this source unemployed youth can earn Rs. 20,000 per month.
 Eligibility: Residents of Andhra Pradesh can apply for the scheme. Only Unemployed
youth who are not associated with any job or business that provides a steady income are

categories tribal can also apply and get the truck. Also the candidates belonging to Kapu

4. YSR Matsyakara Bharosa Nestham :

YSR Matsyakara Bharosa Nestham: The chief minister also introduced a new fishing strategy in
October 2019. The Department of Fisheries of Andhra Pradesh is in charge of the scheme.
 Under YSR Matsyakara Bharosa Nestham, registered fishermen would get Rs. 10,000
annually. Their bank accounts will be credited. During the no-fishing time, Rs. 4000 is
added.
 The state will subsidize 50% of fishermen’s fuel. In order to ensure that this program is
carried out without a problem, the Chief Minister of the state has already allotted Rs. 720
crores from the available state finances.

5. Family Doctor Programme

The Chief Minister would launch the family doctor programme across the state on
March 15. The success of the pilot project had made the chief minister take a decision to
extend the programme to the rest of the state.
BOOSTER SHOT FOR STATE
● The officials told the CM that so far, 45,50,086 persons have been treated under the pilot
project of family doctor
● The village health clinics would be equipped with 105 types of medicines and 14 types of
diagnostic kits to conduct medical tests Across the state. 910 vehicles would extend 104

● Each mandal is provided with 2 PHCs, each PHC will have two doctors and one 104
vehicles. One doctor will take care of patients at PHC while the other doctor visits Dr. YSR

● 105 Medicines and 14 Diagnostic services are made available in every Dr. YSR Village
Health Clinic. Those patients who are in need of advanced treatment are referred to

 Under Jagananna Vasathi Deewana, the government provides for the hostel and mess
charges of BPL students. Industrial Training Institute Courses (ITI) students will receive
Rs 10,000 every year, polytechnic students get Rs15,000, and degree students get Rs
20,000 as fee reimbursement. Full fee reimbursement is provided for SC/ST students
irrespective of courses.
 Eligibility: The students pursuing the following courses are eligible- Polytechnic ITI
Degree PG/Ph.D. The students must be enrolled in the following institution Government
or Government Aided Private Colleges affiliated to State Universities/ Boards. The family’s
annual income should be less than Rs 2.5 Lakh per anum.
 Beneficiaries should only have the wetland below 10 acres/ agricultural land below 25
acres/ or wetland and agricultural land under 25 acres. The beneficiaries should not own
any four-wheelers (Car, Taxi, Auto, etc). Government employees are not eligible for the
scheme. All sanitary workers irrespective of their salary/ recruitment, are eligible. If
anyone in the family is availing pension then he or she is not eligible for the scheme.

● In order to avail YSR Kalyanamasthu/ YSR Shaadi Tohfa, passing 10th class is made
mandatory for both Bride and Groom. With this, parents would educate their children up

● By the time children complete 10th class, they will be 15 years old and as our Government
is providing financial assistance under "Jagananna Amma Vodi" from classes 1 to
Intermediate, they pursue Intermediate too, as there is an age limit of 18 years for the
bride and 21 years for the groom to avail benefits under "YSR Kalyanamasthu" and "YSR
Shaadi Tohfa"... Further as we are providing full fee reimbursement under "Jagananna
Vidya Deevena" and financial assistance for boarding and lodging under "Jagananna

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday released
₹141.60 crore towards financial assistance under YSR Kalyanamasthu and YSR Shaadi Tohfa
benefiting the poor girls belonging to SC, ST, OBC and minority communities, besides families of
construction workers and disabled persons.
 In all, 18,883 girls, who were married during the quarter April –June 2023 would get the
amount, which would be directly credited into the bank accounts of their mothers.
 It encourages both the bride and groom to have at least completed their 10th class to be
eligible. Education is the primary means to break free from poverty.
 Under the scheme, SC, ST and minority beneficiaries would get ₹1 lakh each, the OBC
beneficiaries would get ₹50,000. The differently abled would get ₹1.5 lakh and the families
of construction workers would be given ₹40,000 each. Similarly, the incentives of SC and
ST beneficiaries who opted for inter-caste marriage would get ₹1.2 lakh, the OBC

AAROGYA SRI : State Cabinet decided to undertake public awareness campaign on YSR
Aarogyasri. About Aarogyasri: • This is a ‘flagship scheme’ of all health initiatives of the
State government introduced with an aim to achieve Universal Health Coverage in the
State.
 Healthcare services are provided to the BPL families identified by the Government, with a
financial limit of Rs. 5 lakhs per family, per annum.

AP Cabinet has taken a key decision. Jagananna Civil Services approved the promotion. It
will be applied to socially and economically backward people. Incentives ranging from
Rs.50 thousand to Rs.1 lakh will be given to those who pass prelims and mains in selected
government competitive exams.

16. PRAVASANDHRA BHAROSA BIMA (PBB)

Andhra govt offers 50% subsidy on insurance premium for Non-Resident Telugus.
• The State government is offering a 50% premium subsidy on the Pravasandhra Bharosa
Bima (PBB) (insurance) scheme to support the welfare of Non-Resident Telugus (NRTs),
including migrant workers, employees, and students, living abroad.
• The initiative aims to provide financial security and assistance to NRTs and their families.
• NRTs working abroad can enrol for a minimal fee of Rs 275 with a coverage period of
three years. Students are eligible for free enrolment with coverage for one year.
• The PBB insurance scheme includes Rs 10 lakh financial aid in case of accidental death or
permanent disability, medical expenses of up to Rs 1 lakh for injuries or sickness, and
maternity expenses of up to Rs 50,000 for women.

 The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh asked officials to complete the third phase of the

Bhuraksha Scheme on 18th January 2022.

 The Union government's 'sponge cities' mission will cover 15 urban local bodies of Andhra

 This scheme was launched in 2019.


 This scheme is being implemented by the Law Department, Government of Andhra
Pradesh.
 Benefit: A monthly stipend of an amount of ₹ 5,000/- for the first three years.
Eligibility:
 The applicant should be a resident/domicile of the state of Andhra Pradesh.
 The applicant shall possess bachelor’s degree in law.
 The applicant should be a Law Graduate, who passed out in the year 2016 and afterward.
 The name of the applicant shall be entered in the rolls of Advocates being maintained by
the Andhra Pradesh State Bar Council under Section 17 of the Advocates Act, 1961.

of practice, as of the date of issue of the Government Order, are eligible for a stipend for
the remaining period.

21. Investment Support to Farmer - YSR Rythu Bharosa

 Dr. YSR Rythu Bharosa - PM Kisan : This scheme was launched on 15th October 2019.
 Under this scheme, Financial Assistance is being provided to Agriculture Land Owning
farmer families @ of Rs. 13,500 per year per family. Of this amount Rs. 6,000 will be paid
from PM KISAN SCHEME.
 Financial Assistance is also being provided to SC, ST, BC, Minority Category Landless
tenant farmers and ROFR cultivators. (ROFR - Recognition of Forest Rights).
 The amount will be paid in 3 instalments (not equal instalments) as detailed below.

22. Jagananna Amma Vodi

 Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Welfare Corporation announced that they will be sending a
proposal to the state government to include Vedic students under the Amma Vodi scheme.
About Jagananna Amma Vodi:
 This scheme was launched in the year 2020 by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
 This scheme provides poor mothers (or recognized guardian in the absence of mother)
₹15,000/- per annum for sending their children to school.

 The scheme is managed by the School Education Department, Government of Andhra
Pradesh.
 The objective of the scheme is to enhance access to schools, ensure equity, assuring quality
education, improve attendance, and retention, achieve better learning outcomes, and for
the overall development of the child from Classes 1st to 12th.
 The scheme is expected to lead to a strong foundation for the increase in the overall Gross
Enrolment Ratio (GER) at the primary and secondary levels of education of the state
including Higher Education and framed Guidelines for implementation of the program.
Benefits of the scheme:
 The eligible mothers/guardians will be sanctioned ₹ 14000/- which will be deposited
directly into the beneficiary’s savings account of the Nationalized Bank / Post Office in
January every year until the child passes Class 12th.
 An amount of ₹ 1000/- from each beneficiary shall be deducted at the source and released
to School/College Committee as District Toilet Maintenance Fund (DTMF) under the
control of the District Collector.
Eligibility of the scheme:
 Must be legal resident of AP.
 Must be from a BPL household with a white ration card.
 The student must be studying in a government school/ junior college between class 1 and
12. If child discontinue the study in middle of the session of academic year, then he will
not be able to avail the benefits of the scheme.

23. ‘Swechha’ program

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched the
‘Swechha’ program to tackle the stigma attached to menstruation, prioritize female
personal hygiene, and encourage a healthy dialogue of information.
 The state government will provide good quality branded sanitary napkins to female
students at government educational institutions free of cost.
 Ten sanitary napkins will be given every month to about 10 lakh adolescent girls studying
from 7th-12th grades in all government schools and intermediate colleges across the state
at a financial outlay of INR 32 crores.
 A total of 120 napkins per year is allotted to every female student, even during summer
vacations, the students will be supplied with their quota before they leave school.

24. "YSR EBC Nestham"

The scheme "YSR EBC Nestham" is a Social Empowerment Scheme by the


Backward Classes Welfare Department, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. The objective of the
scheme is to extend financial assistance to the women belonging to Economically
Backward Classes who are in the age group of 45 – 60 years with a sum of ₹ 45,000/- in
three phases (₹ 15,000/- per annum for a period of three years). This will create access to
enhanced livelihood opportunities, income generation, and wealth creation at the
household level, on a sustainable basis leading to better standards of living. The applicant
should be a permanent resident of Andhra Pradesh.
Eligibility:
1. Citizenship: The applicant should be a permanent resident of Andhra Pradesh.
2. Total Family Income: Total family Income should be less than Rs.10,000/- per month in
Rural areas and Rs.12,000/- per month in Urban regions.
3. Total family Land Holding: Total land holding of the family should be less than 3.00 Acres
of Wet Land OR 10 Acres of Dry Land OR 10 Acres of Land put together for this purpose.
4. Government Employee/Pensioner: No family member should be a government employee
or pensioner. The families of Sanitary workers are exempted.
5. Four-Wheeler: The family should not own a four-wheeler (Taxis, Tractors, and Autos are
exempted).
6. Electricity Consumption: Monthly electricity consumption of a family dwelling unit
(own/rent) should be less than 300 units.
7. Income Tax: No family member should be an income tax payee.
8. Municipal Property: Less than 750 sq. feet of built-up area (Residential or commercial).
9. Age & Gender: Should be between 45 – 60 Years & Female.
10. Category: Economically Backward Classes.

25. YSR Sanchara Pasu Aarogya Seva

In an effort to strengthen veterinary care across the state, Andhra Pradesh Chief
Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy flagged off 165 veterinary ambulances. The project,
which is the second phase of the YSR Sanchara Pasu Aarogya Seva (Mobile Veterinary
Clinics), cost over Rs 127 crore.

 It was launched from CM Jagan’s camp office in Vijayawada. With these, the number of
animal ambulances in Andhra Pradesh has risen to 340.
 In the case of an animal needing emergency services, residents can call the toll-free
number 1962, similar to the 108 ambulances. Each ambulance has veterinarians, certified
assistants, and drivers/ co-attendants on staff.
 The ambulances will transport animals in distress to the closest veterinary hospital for
better care. After recovery, the animal is returned at no additional cost to the livestock
farmer's home.

26. Industrial Policy 2020-23 :

 Andhra Pradesh is a leading destination for industrial investment in India. The state
boasts of the second longest coastline within the country and 6 operational ports.
Additionally, Andhra Pradesh is blessed with abundant mineral resources, agricultural
base, and surplus electricity. The state has a good industrial base in pharma, electronics,
food processing, textiles, and automotive set up over several decades.

27. Jagananna Chedodu scheme

Jagananna Chedodu scheme which is being implemented by Andhra Pradesh


government for the benefit of tailors, rajakas and barbers provides 10000 rupees of financial
assistance each year to these category of beneficiaries.
 AP government is implementing this scheme for the last four consecutive years and this
time for the fourth consecutive year government of Andhra Pradesh has released the funds
on October 19.
 There was slight delay in releasing the payments due to continuous bank holidays and
some unforeseen reasons and now it is understood govt has released all the eligible
payments in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Accordingly, govt has also updated the
status of payments in its portal.

29. 'Jagannanna Thodu' scheme

The AP government's 'Jagannanna Thodu' scheme seeks to help small traders who
are struggling with high interest rates.
 Benefits to the citizens: Interest-free term loan of Rs 10,000 per year would be extended
to the hawkers, street vendors, and artisans engaged in traditional handicrafts through
banks.
 Eligibility: Small trader must be over 18 years of age. Family income should be less than
Rs.10,000 in villages and less than Rs.12,000 in towns. Must have Aadhaar, Voter Card or
any other identity card issued by the Government.
 Those who trade on carts on the side of the road, on footpaths, in public and private places,
and those who carry goods on their heads in the Gampa are eligible.
 Those who trade on bicycles, motorcycles and autos from one place to another are also
eligible. In villages and towns, those who have set up permanent or temporary shops in a
space of about 5 feet in length, 5 feet in width and less are eligible for this scheme.
30. YSR Sunna Vaddi Scheme :

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with a member of a women Self Help Group
from Andhra Pradesh about YSR Sunna Vaddi Scheme:
 This scheme was launched in the year 2020.
 The scheme intends to provide zero interest loans for women in self-help groups.

 To reduce interest burden on poor SHG women, it is proposed to pay interest portion for
the FY 2019-20 on SHG bank loan amount outstanding under YSR Sunna Vaddi.
 The main objective of the scheme is to provide a free credit loan to all of the self-help
groups of the Andhra Pradesh state.
 All SHG women from both the rural and urban areas having the bank loan accounts will
receive an outstanding amount up to Rs.5.00 lakhs under the YSR Sunna Vaddi Pathakam.
 SHG loan accounts declared NPA as on 31/03/2019 as per SERP and MEPMA data base
will not get the YSR Sunna Vaddi Pathakam.
Eligibility of the scheme:
 Only the permanent resident of Andhra Pradesh state can avail for the scheme benefits.
 The applicant must be a Self-Help Group Member.
 The applicant must belong to the below poverty line that is only the Poor SHG member
will get the chance to apply for the scheme.
 SHG women (both rural and urban) with bank loan accounts outstanding amount up to
Rs.5.00 lakhs are eligible.

31. YSR- SUJALA DHARA :

 As a part of the scheme, the Vamsadhara water from Hiramandalam reservoir will be
supplied to 807 villages in the Uddanam region, which is known for the high prevalence
of chronic kidney diseases (CKD). The project will supply around 1.12 tmc ft of water to
these villages. A water treatment plant with a capacity of purifying 84 million litres of
water per day has been constructed.

• Dr YSR Kidney Research and Super Speciality Hospital at Palasa of Srikakulam District
– will provide medical services for kidney patients of the Uddanam region.

• ICMR will support research here on chronic kidney disease prevalent in the 700 villages
of the region.

15. AP Governor Released Special Postal Covers on Freedom Fighter
Alluri Sitarama Raju

 The Governor of Andhra Pradesh (AP), S Abdul Nazeer released six special covers on
"Manyam Viplava Saradhi Alluri Sitarama Raju" in the form of a monograph to mark the
100th year (centenary) of the Chilli Post.
 In 1922, Alluri Sitarama Raju led the Rampa Rebellion with the help of tribal people to
fight against the British. His first attack was on the Chintapalli police station. • He used to
shoot an arrow with a bunch of chillies tied in it along with typed message and sent it to
the British officials. They called this as "Mirapakaaya Tapa" or "Chilli Post."
 Year 2022 marked the 100th anniversary of this event. To comenmorate this event, the
Department of Post under the Ministry of Communication decided to release special

 Proving that people are living in Andhra Pradesh with ease, as many as three cities from
the state secured top spots in the Citizen Perception Survey.
 According to the official reports, three cities from Andhra Pradesh, including Guntur,
Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam, secured positions in the top ten list in the national-level
survey.
 Meanwhile, Bengaluru topped the overall national rankings.
 Guntur has reported the highest percentage of the participation of city population in the
survey(51.37%) in the entire country, while Vijayawada reported 32.12% and
Visakhapatnam 16.72%.
 The Citizen Perception Survey conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs,
Government of India, is part of the Ease of Living Index, which seeks to directly capture
the perceptions of citizens with respect to the quality of life in their cities.
 The survey is conducted every year on various parameters like city development, basic
amenities, sanitation, and other aspects, provided by over 1,800 local bodies.
