Interpolation
1. Interpolation of One Variable: interpolation is necessary when a value is required from a table at
conditions which lie between two values.
T °C H KJ/Kg
Example: Find the enthalpy of saturated vapor T1 = 140 H1 = 2733.1
steam at 140.8 °C is intermediate between the T = 140.8 °C H1 = ?
following values taken from Table: T2 = 142 H2 = 2735.6
𝑻𝟐 − 𝑻 𝑻 − 𝑻𝟏
𝑯 = ( ) 𝑯𝟏 + ( ) 𝑯𝟐
𝑻𝟐 − 𝑻𝟏 𝑻𝟐 − 𝑻𝟏
Example: Find the specific volume of superheated steam at 816 kPa and 512 °C.
