1) A printing organization observes that the average number of printing errors
made by a machine within a day follows the distribution of Poisson(5). Required: i. Calculate the probability of getting three (03) printing mistakes by the machine within a day. ii. Calculate the probability of making at least two (02) printing mistakes by the machine within a day. iii. Calculate the probability of making three (03) or more printing mistakes by the machine within two (02) days. 2) A manufacturer of PCR Test Kits found that 15% of their products are defective. They have already sent a sample of 10 products to a supplier for quality inspection purposes. The supplier will terminate the supply contract if the sample contains more than 2 defective products. Required: i. Calculate the probability of terminating the contract by the supplier. ii. Calculate the probability of terminating the contract if the sample size changes to 20 while other parameters remain the same. 3) A sample of 100 Sri Lankan citizens revealed that the average income was LKR 56,500 with a standard deviation of LKR 25,000. Establish the 75% confidence interval for the average income of a Sri Lankan citizen. 4) The average diameter of a sample of 16 products was found to be 100mm with a standard deviation of 40 mm. Establish the 90% and the 95% confidence interval for the diameter of the product.
