Well-sewn dresses and clothes are the basic foundation of fashion.

The world of fashion makes

outfits from the simplest style to the most iconic and valuable designs. These designs come from the
artistic and creative designers with mixed old styles or retro and the modern designs.

Since there is fashion, there are procedures in making fashionable items like clothes and other
things. But, since this time, the things that always on the line is our clothes, the design of clothes we are
wearing today is where we have to focus on.

The thing that serves as our 1st actual activity in this particular subject was the process of
draping or the process of creating a design using cut fabrics. First, our group have tackled about the
design that we are going to make. When it is approved by all of our groupmates, we started to drew it
on a piece of paper which will serve while conducting this activity. In considering the model in this
particular activity, our groupmates have agreed upon the decision that Leslie Atienza will be our model
in our first ever actual activity. We take her body measurement and take it down on our notes for it to
fit her body well. When the measurement has been collected, our group have cut the fabrics that we are
going to use and pinned our agreed design on Leslie's shirt that fits her body well. At last, we managed
to create a modern filipiñiana barong which signifies both historical and modern design for ladies or
woman.

The next actual activity we have done in this subject was the process of creating a modern
barong. Honestly, struggles and challenges have found in this activity since all of us are girls and we have
to look for a boy that will serve as our model in terms of creating a barong. Luckily, group 2 has 2 boys
on their group and they allow us to borrow Eugene until the moment that we finish our activity.
However, in terms of the design that we used, we then came up to the design that will pair up our lady
barong modern filipiñiana. The design we had agreed upon was making a design that is unique but is still
following the trends and the tradition that Filipinos have. Since our modern filipiñiana has its one side-
puff sleeves that is really on trend today, we decided to also put this design on our barong for it to really
become unique as it should be. The procedure that we follow in doing this was considerably the same
on what we did in designing our lady barong. First is the process of sketching the design, second is
measuring the body of our model; Eugene Landicho, and third, cutting the fabric and pinning it to our
model's shirt that fits his body to emphasize the good measurement of his upper body.

On the 18th day of October, year 2022, we are finally allowed to use sewing machine for the
very first time in our almost three years of taking this major. It was such an honor that we, Garments,
Fashion and Design students and teachers in the making are the ones who experienced how to sew, and
create a whole design that is made by us, truly. Since we have to practice and improve our skills in
sewing, we are assigned to create different type of clothes with the use of prelove clothes, blankets,
curtains and other used garments that we are not going to use anymore. The task assigned to us was to
create a quilted vest and skirt/ pants made from used clothes, a dress made from blankets, curtains and
etc., and a corporate attire for both girls and boys.
In our first task, we are to do quilting. It was a quilt vest using old malong batik fabric, pre-loved
denim pants and other used fabrics so that it will be made up of recycled fabric materials.

Our idea of making an indigenous design is to show our respect to the Filipino culture.

In this activity, it was divided into two groups. The first group are the sewers, Lerry Jane
Santiago, Jenerose De Castro, Khay Encarnacion and Estephany Pesigan. While the second group are
assigned in marking and cutting which are, Jhoy Reyes, Irish Ivan Cantal, Karla Bianca Morales and Leslie
Atienza.

Sir mj, also give us an activity in making a dress using any fabric that we want. First, he tells us
the instruction and give an information that will help everyone to do the task more easily, and after that
our group don't waste time and starts making a plan. And then, when our design in dress are already
finalize, we also talks about the model who will wear this. And we decided to chose Lerry Jane Santiago
because we all know that she is the one who is suits to present it during the GALA. In terms of our
concept it is inspired from gowns made by local fashion designers together with the natural concept of
GFD majors to make it really look like a local made dress, a filipina dress. This dress is a ribbon corset
inspired tie dress with high slit together with its inner design inspired by different churches in the
Philippines with a touch of gold fabric as a design that portrays filipina look to feed its concept "old
modern filipina dress". And to make this possible, everyone is given an assigned on what he/she will did.
Some are measuring the body parts of lerry jane, some ang cutting fabrics and some are starting on
sewing. And because of the cooperation of our group, we finished this activity successfully.

Another activity is by making a denim skirt. Just like the other task, it will be done by grouping
activity. Everyone have their own assigned duty to finish the skirt before the duedate. And interms of
our concept we ageeed upon to emphasize it with the retro themed skirt with a twist of modern add
ons. Mermaid tail design is a popular design that is known for a long time, it is mostly used in gowns and
dresses and to make it look like a trendy skirt, it is created in a combination of modern and retro design
by means of putting a cargo and chain that is undeniably on trend today together with the paints that is
also popular in modern pants that we loved to buy. And after we finish this, we try to worn this in our
model to determine if there's no problem with the fitting/size, and Jennerose Decastro will the one who
will present it during the GALA.
