Attendance
● Alternative Teaching - they won’t work with
the family if there are substance issues or if
the parent is mentally ill.
● Suggestion: Pull in the police social worker.
● Infinite Hope: Ron Strong and Kathy B. can
support the student. If they feel they can’t
work with the family, they won’t charge the
district.
● Fusion: no therapeutic support, as well as no
special education support. The school
district will not pay for this. It is one-on-one
teaching.
● Night school in Mundelein. Warren also has
a night school. You can pay to go to these
schools if you’re out of district.
Outreach
● District 214 has Outreach counselors, but
they may cut them. They said it has been
very helpful. They run home visits,
connecting with parents, connecting to
outside agencies, etc.
● If you need to connect a family to
homelessness resources, police social
workers will likely help. Also, go to churches
and ask if there are resources.
Deaf & Hard of Hearing
Substance Misuse
● Partnering with Rosecrance
○ Three sessions free, but online.
● OMNI 7 challenge curriculum
● One of the schools took the doors off the
bathrooms and found that vaping decreased a
little.
Hate Speech
● Students who are marginalized have few
resources
● Lake Forest - Faculty Led Improvement
committee
○ Have it and want it from faculty
● Listening Sessions for students; Also had a
student group that had representatives from
different student groups
● Niles - PlayBack Theatre Presentation -
students made video about how
microaggressions affect them - it is not
therapy, but can feel therapeutic bc students
share their stories, SW/Psychs were part of
the team as well… SW/Psychs follow up - they
meet with the students if they share anything
that is too personal or if they need additional
support
● Barrington - teacher (representative of the
group that was affected) & student have active
conversations… the victim is not present so
they are not retraumatized if they do not want
to be part of the conversation
Professional Boundaries with Referrals
● D214 & GB North - Has their own SW that
are dedicated to the group
Report for Present Danger
● Clear & Presentation Danger - some SWs do
it and seems most admin fill this out
● New Trier- social workers fill out the Clear &
Presentation Danger forms, social workers
determine if students are sent to the hospital
● Niles - admin determines what students are
sent to the hospital
● Warriors - SRO fills out the the Clear &
Presentation Danger forms
Title 9 Coordinators
● Libertyville - Super attendants, female
admins (HR, student investigation),
● LF - Medicaid compliance staff member
provide investigations
SDS
● Most schools do it for initials
● Warriors - social workers perform it
● New Trier - social workers are there to
provide social emotional input
Curriculum
● District 128 - social workers either see Sped
Ed or General
● New Trier - social workers see a mixture of
students
Additional Resources
● Warriors - a lot of students are seen on a
weekly basis, they developed criterias that
make them eligible and criteria to exit
○ Every 12 weeks they review caseloads
● LF - first line of defense, it is up to them with
who and what they refer, Gen Ed & SPED

● There is a law that went to action for next year
- 105 ILCS 155/ Wellness Checks in Schools

○ If you need admin to get on board, their admin will come and speak to our admin. If you need
them to bring the dog in to show everyone that nothing will happen, they will bring him in for a
while.

Consortium Plans in the Future:

- Opportunities for leadership: There are going to be representatives at each school that
will collaborate for the consortium in order to limit the amount of people contacting the
host.
- Possibly $5 fee so that we can meet for a conference or have bigger spaces to meet.
- Virtual monthly drop-in to ask questions/concerns
