Pixel Gun 3D is a first-person shooter video game released in

2013 for iOS and Android.[2] It was developed by Lightmap and
published by Cubic Games, with both being acquired by Nexters
in January 2022. According to Cubic Games, the game had

obtain pets,[5] customize their character and have different skins.[5][7] The game's mechanics and graphics
are similar to that of Minecraft.[7][8]

Story
The synopsis of Pixel Gun 3D is the sudden "square-ification" of the world and the outbreak of various
monsters, in which an unnamed protagonist attempts to solve both mysteries by traveling from different
worlds. Across each area in the game, the protagonist kills all monsters or soldiers that reside within the
level, before defeating some sort of boss.[8][5]

Pixel Gun 3D begins with the protagonist waking up early in the morning find zombies breaking into his
house. To investigate the cause of the outbreak, the protagonist traverses throughout the countryside before
reaching a facility known as Area 52, where the outbreak is revealed to have originated from a portal in an
elementary school. After traveling to this different dimension, he meets an unnamed survivor who tags
along with him across more areas throughout this world. They reach a location known as Hell Castle,
where a dragon takes them to another world. The protagonist and survivor reach a metropolis and discover
the cause of the "square-ification", identified to be the result of an error in a game developers code. After
using virtual reality to fight The Bug, the protagonist becomes trapped within the internet and becomes The
Bug. After floating around inside the internet, the protagonist is found by a ship under attack by droids. The
protagonist is put up against more encounters against various forms of droids. After defeating enemies, it is
revealed that the protagonist is trapped inside of a game within the internet known as Cubic Revolution, and
the protagonist begins plotting on how to escape the Internet for good.

Pixel Gun 3D has been lauded for its variety in features such as weapons, character customizability and
game modes.[7][9][10] Felipe Vinha of Brazilian website TechTudo thought it to be enjoyable,[7] and Alex
Avard of GamesRadar+ considered the game to have "a rambunctious moment-to-moment overload of
sensory action and loaded visual flavour".[6] The game was listed by Gamezebo's Mark Langshaw and
Avard in 2018 and 2019 respectively as one of the best mobile battle royale games.[10][6] Pocket Gamer
ranked Pixel Gun 3D in 2021 as the 24th best shooter game for Android devices,[9] and in 2022 as the 15th
best for iOS.[11]

While praising the game's multiplayer mode, Mike Deneen of 148Apps found the single-player mode to be
frustrating and uninteresting.[8] Vinha criticized what he saw as annoying bugs and advertisements.[7]
