B. General
• Additional Class Disclaimer on Language Usage

- (Korean students) Given this course is a basically ENGLISH-run class,


i) you should try to be familiar with English (approximately 75%); and
i.e., English will be our primary language in class
ii) both Korean and English are allowed for students
when making (or emailing) a question or participating in discussion

- (International students) Given the basic purpose of this course,


i) we will learn primary accounting terms in both English and Korean;
i.e. this is not English class, but ACCOUNTING class run in English
cf. An accounting glossary template will be provided for self-studying
ii) supplementary explanation will be given in Korean during class, if necessary ;
e.g. complicated, vague, or key concepts
iii) we will cover Korean materials (e.g, news articles) in special lectures; and
iii) Korean practice problems will be additionally provided for self-practice
B. General
• Additional Class Disclaimer on Fair Class Running
- Students are not allowed to use ANY class materials (e.g., lecture notes,
prior exam questions) for commercial purposes by the school regulation
- Students are asked to inform the lecturer (potential) unfair or fraudulent
behaviors anonymously conducted via the online channel (e.g., EVERYTIME)
- Students will be given extra credit according to their contribution to detecting
and preventing misconducts in terms of fair class running

D. Evaluation
• Attendance [10%]
- Attendance check at the beginning of each class
- 2 lateness = 1 absence, 1 (0.5) points deduction per 1 absence (lateness)
- 1 absence allowed without notice
- Formal documents required for an excuse of further absences
→ N/A (up to 1 absence or 2 lateness), -1.5 (1 absence and 1 lateness),
-2 (2 absences), … , -9.5 (9 absence and 1 lateness), F grade (10 absences +)

• Exam [85%]
- Mix of True/False, Calculation, and Open-ended questions
- Simple calculator required with no memory function
- 2 page hand-written cheat sheet is allowed for each exam
- F grade for no exam participation or cheating in addition to school penalty
- No make-up tests are provided in principle
* Ex ante consulting with the instructor is required if students think they cannot take an exam
- Details on the midterm and final exams will be announced later

D. Evaluation
• Assignment [5%]
- Individual assignment
- Financial statement analysis and firm valuation as follows:
i) choose a firm you are interested in;
ii) conduct quantitative analyses using a given template;
iii) conduct qualitative search;
iv) estimate firm value and compare it with stock price; and
v) make your own investment decision (buy, hold, or sell)
- Submit by email to T/A
- Five points will be given unless you fail to
i) complete the assignment or
ii) meet the submission deadline (1 point deduction per 1 day delay)
- Up to 5 selected or voluntary presenters will receive two extra points
- Details on the assignment will be announced later
