National Commission for Minorities


The Union Government set up the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) under the
National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992. Six religious communities, viz; Muslims,
Christians, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists and Zoroastrians (Parsis) have been notified in Gazette of
India as minority communities by the Union Government all over India .Original notification
of 1993 was for five religious communities; Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis, Christians and Muslims,
later in 2014, Jains community was also added. As per Census 2001, these six communities
consists of 18.8% of the country’s population.

The NITI Aayog: National Institution for Transforming India - serves as the apex public policy
think tank of the Government of India, and the nodal agency tasked with catalyzing economic
development, and fostering cooperative federalism and moving away from bargaining federalism
through the involvement of State Governments of India in the economic policy-making process
using a bottom-up approach. Its initiatives include “15-year road map”, “7-year vision, strategy,
and action plan”, AMRUT, Digital India, Atal Innovation Mission, Medical Education Reform,
Indices Measuring States’ Performance in Health, Education and Water Management.

National Sample Survey Office (NSSO)

The National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), formerly called the National Sample Survey
Organisation was the largest organization in India conducting periodic socio-economic surveys.
The National Sample Survey Office used to work under the Ministry of Statistics of the Indian
government until May 2019. On 23rd May 2019, the Indian government passed the order to
merge the NSSO with the Central Statistics Office (CSO) to form the National Statistical Office
(NSO). The Government stated that the NSO will be headed by the Ministry of Statistics and
Programme Implementation (MOSPI).
The National Sample Survey Office (NSSO is responsible for conduct of large scale sample
surveys in diverse fields on All India basis.
Primarily data are collected through nation-wide household surveys on various socio-economic
subjects,
Human Development Statistics
Annual Survey of Industries (ASI), etc.
Besides these surveys, NSSO collects data on rural and urban prices and plays a significant
role in the improvement of crop statistics through supervision of the area enumeration and crop
estimation surveys of the State agencies.
It also maintains a frame of urban area units for use in sample surveys in urban areas.

The NSSO has four Divisions:


Survey Design and Research Division (SDRD); Field Operations Division (FOD); Data
Processing Division (DPD); Survey Coordination Division (SCD).

ELECTION COMMISSION
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is a constitutional body. It was established by the
Constitution of India to conduct and regulate elections in the country. Article 324 of the
Constitution provides that the power of superintendence, direction, and control of elections
to parliament, state legislatures, the office of the president of India, and the office of vice-
president of India shall be vested in the election commission. Thus, the Election Commission
is an all-India body in the sense that it is common to both the Central government and the state
governments

RBI
The Reserve Bank of India, abbreviated as RBI, is India’s central bank and regulatory body
responsible for regulation of the Indian banking system. It is under the ownership of Ministry
of Finance, Government of India. It is responsible for the control, issue and maintaining supply
of the Indian rupee. It also manages the country’s main payment systems and works to promote
its economic development. Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran (BRBNM) is a specialised
division of RBI through which it prints and mints Indian currency notes (INR) in two of its
currency printing presses located in Mysore (Karnataka; Southern India) and Salboni (West
Bengal; Eastern India).

WORLD BANK
The World Bank is an international financial institution that provides loans and grants to
the governments of low- and middle-income countries for the purpose of pursuing capital
projects. The World Bank is the collective name for the International Bank for Reconstruction

international organizations owned by the World Bank Group. It was established along with the
International Monetary Fund at the 1944 Bretton Woods Conference.
