I read this article last Christmas and have been saving the article for a year to share with you. A wonderful fellowship activity from a Brandon, Mississippi Baptist Church involves the ever popular fruitcake gift. Many times we receive them or give them as gifts and they are not appreciated because not everyone loves to eat fruitcake like I do. So, we are going to purchase two fruitcakes and pass them out at the November chili cook-off. It is to be kept in its packaging and not opened. Attached to the fruitcake will be your instructions and a sheet of paper fro names. The first instruction is Do not eat this fruitcake. You must take the fruitcake with the instruction sheet and the sheet for the names to someone else in the church, you cannot give it to them at church. You must visit them in their home and leave the fruitcake. They in turn must take the fruitcake to someone else and visit in their home. You will write your name and the date you received the fruitcake., You only have 3 days to make the pass. The point of this fun activity is to encourage people to visit each other during the holiday season. On the Sunday before Christmas, the fruitcakes will be displayed and we will see where all the fruitcakes have been. All of the fruitcakes are usually returned and have not been opened or eaten. So maybe, it is true, no one really likes to eat fruitcake.
