It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you today to our seminar on
"Accountability for Sustainability," organized by the Department of Accounting
and Information Systems
Guest Introduction
Today we have with us our esteemed Chief Guest and Dean of Faculty of Business
Studies, Brigadier General Md Saadat Hossain, ndc, psc. Our Keynote Speaker for
today’s seminar is Professor Dr. Md. Tareq, the executive President of Bangladesh
Institute of Capital Market. And the session will be moderated by Associate
Professor Dr. Md. Tapan Mahmud sir, from the department of Accounting and
Information Systems.
Today, we embark on a journey of exploration and discovery into the critical nexus
between accountability and sustainability, two pillars that underpin the fabric of
our global society.
In the next few hours, we will delve deep into discussions, presentations, and
interactive sessions that will shed light on the challenges, opportunities, and
imperative actions required to foster a world where accountability and
sustainability together can play a significant role.
Now, I would like to invite honorable Chairman of Accounting and Information
Systems Department, Lt Col Md. Alauddin Al-Mamun to deliver the opening
address and set the stage for the insightful discussions that will follow.

overview of the seminar's objectives. Your leadership and vision continue to guide
us towards excellence in academia and beyond.
Dear audience, today we are delighted to have our esteemed Keynote Speaker
Professor Dr. Mohammad Tareq. Dr. Mohammad Tareq is currently the Executive
President of BICM. Before joining BICM he served as a Professor in the
Department of Accounting & Information Systems at the University of Dhaka. He
graduated from the same institution as the top student in his MBA class, achieving
a perfect CGPA score of 4.00/4.00. Subsequently, he pursued his Ph.D. in Financial
Accounting in Australia, fully funded by the Australian Government. Before
embarking on his Ph.D. journey, Dr. Mohammad Tareq completed a second MBA
(major in Finance) at the University of Tsukuba in Japan, sponsored by the
prestigious Monbukagakusho scholarship offered by the Japanese Government.
With an extensive professional background spanning over twenty-two years, his
expertise encompasses a wide array of areas, predominantly focusing on capital
markets, Accounting, Auditing and Public Policy. Dr. Mohammad Tareq is also
recognized nationally and globally for his significant contribution as a researcher
to accounting and information technology literature.
With a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of sustainability and
accountability, our keynote speaker is sure to enlighten us with valuable insights
and perspectives.
As we commence our seminar on "Accountability for Sustainability," it is with
great honor that I present to you our esteemed Moderator for this momentous
occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Md. Tapan Mahmud sir. With a profound
reservoir of expertise and experience within the realm of sustainability and
accountability, Tapan sir will stand as a beacon of guidance today, to achieve the
best outcome, through insightful discussions and interaction, from the seminar. I
request Dr. Tapan Sir to come on the podium and moderate the seminar
accordingly.
