“My roller coaster life”

Hello, there! I’d like to formally introduce myself. I’m Francaix Gregorio Manguiat,

most people know me as “Kaye” and you can call me that when you see me around.

Growing up, I was really not a fan of the English language. Spending the majority of my

time in the comfort room with no one to talk to because I don’t wanna interact with people.

Some of my classmates when I was in high school laughed about the way I talk and I’m not

really a fan of written and verbal communication, when it comes to the English language. Take

note that I have a Persistent Depressive Disorder and it triggers me when someone is bullying me

all the time but I managed to be silent because I don’t wanna get in trouble. You wanna know

what’s my course? I’m a 3rd-year student of Bachelor of Arts in English studies language, with

the help of my professors and classmates here at the university I was able to love and seek my

true happiness with this course. I mean, who knows that the language that I hate when I was in

grade school made me realize that it’s okay to step out of my comfort zone.

Originally, I’m from Cebu city and the first language that I learned is “Cebuano” which is

an Austronesian language, spoken in the southern Philippines. Specifically, it flourishes in

Central Visayas, the Western part of Eastern Visayas, and on most parts of Mindanao. now that

you know a little about me, here are the three most interesting things about myself.

First, I’m a varsity player here at the University of the Philippines and you wanna know

what’s the sport? It’s lawn tennis, I started playing when I was 6 years old. I love the sport so

much and it’s my outlet whenever I get stressed out in terms of academics or in life. I represent

the country twice, got the bronze and silver medal in Singapore last 2017. I also joined the

“Palarong Pambansa” in high school and got the silver medal representing Cebu city. My

favorite player is Serena Williams aside from being a nice person. She’s really good at playing

tennis and won her 23rd grand slam in the Australian Open. she pulled clear of Steffi graf to take

the overall lead in the rankings after her success at the 2017 Australian Open, in which she beat

her sister “Venus Williams” in the final. It’s really a fun sport it helped me socialize with other

people and that’s the reason why I’m studying at this prestigious university because they saw

how I’m dedicated to represent the school and compete wholeheartedly.

Second, I really love dogs. Pets are a great blessing in anyone’s life, they offer us

everything they want without asking for anything in return. We have 6 Shihtzu dogs Primo,

Queenie, Chu, Chloe, Snow, and Berto. They love to play fetch and stroll to the park every day

and it’s a little bit hard to handle because they are very mischievous. The most common pet you

can find at anyone’s place is dogs. The main aim of any pet’s life is to make its owner happy.

Nowadays, even the term ‘owner’ is changing. People prefer their pets as kids and to themselves

as parents. This is how the relationship between pets is evolving. People treat them no less than

humans. For instance, they celebrate their birthdays; get those matching outfits, and maternity

shoots.

Lastly, I’m a big fan of guns. Firearms are the weapons of choice for people who decide

to use them for protection. Unfortunately, they are also the weapon of choice for criminals. Since

firearms are easy for criminals to steal, firearms are readily available on the black market; this

makes firearms the prime tool for criminals. So, be sure if you are buying one. Don’t use it for

bad purposes but for entertainment and stress reliever purposes. My father normally wants me to

join them in their shooting range with his friends, I got a gift from my dad on my 18th birthday

and it’s a Pistol Auto 9mm. I’m allowed to use it because we applied for a “Permit to carry”

license. I’m just using it whenever I’m with my parents because they’re not allowing me to be all

by myself. Somehow, this is our family bonding and it binds us together.
