A BRIEF REPORT ON THE FAULTY ICU BED.

An ICU Bed has electric and manual controls, side rails, wheels and a brake, a removable
headboard to allow procedures (ie, endotracheal intubation, vascular access) from the head
of the bed, and intravenous (IV) pole mounts.
FINDINGS
According to our analysis and findings, we can confirm that the ICU BED can still work
provided the damaged components are replaced.

The bed framework and mechanical components are still in good condition

ACTION TO BE TAKEN
Re-wiring/re-installation and fixing the components which can be done by the Biomedical
Engineering Team of Kampala Hospital provided these components are available
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS MACHINE TO WORK.

The faulty circuit and components were removed and are in the biomedical workshop/office.
RECOMMENDATION
The recommended action includes immediate replacement of the faulty components and
comprehensive testing. Swift implementation of these recommendations is crucial for
ensuring convenience and efficiency by filling the remaining ICU units.
