Updates Theatre:
January performance:
- 204 visits
- 208 procedures with 43 major, 46 minor and 28 mediate.
- Obs Gyn – 108
- Plastic surgery – 1
- Neuro -0
- Laparascopy – 3 procedures.
Updates:
- Received a patient monitor for the minor theatre.
- Received a new sanction machine making them 2 in total.
- Theatre ceiling needs to be repaired as it leaks.
- Theatre light is hanging low and could injure the doctors on duty.
- Still have a challenge of sparking sockets. These need to be worked on before machines
are burnt down.

ICU:
- Jan figures:
- Admissions – 32
- ICU – 9
- HDU -23

Challenges:
- Sparking sockets which have let to blowing of some machines.
- Need to streamline how to get sundries from the dialysis centres.

SCU:
- 37 Babies
- 3 were referred.

Challenges:
- Incubators are not working.
- They need more equipment in the unit.
- There is need for piped oxygen.
- They need another fridge to separate the storage of the drugs from Expressed Babies
Milk (EBM).
- Need a cooling mattress.

Finance:
- The Revenue Manager emphasised that our relationship with Sanlam is still intact.
- UAP is still working with us with a co payment of 50,000 for OPD and 10% for IPD.
- The team asked that insurance companies be advised to improve their approval timelines.

Wellness:

The drop was caused by:

- No Pead from 4-7pm

The team is in need of a nebuliser and a vein finder.

Post Natal:

December figures:
188 admissions
- Thanked the team for good staffing. Got new staff that were very supportive.
- Excited about the planned postnatal renovations.

Recommendations to improve numbers:


- Requested to have a customer service staff help the mothers with room admissions at
Postnatal.
Challenges:
- Rooms are not enough and do not meet quality standards.
- Staffing gaps
- Rodents in the section.
- Leaking toilets (Room,
- Faulty room equipment e.g. boilers, kettles etc,)
- Unstable power especially at night which ends up destroying machines.

BCM:

Challenges:
- The floor needs to be renovated as it appears dirty even after mopping.
- Need a pediatric pulsometer and an auto scope.

Facilities:
- Power audit is taking place. The ICU electrical engineer was invited to check original
wiring for potential error.
- All facilities issues are being handled in order of priority.

IT:
- Integrated the lab machine and CBC.
- The integration of the chemistry machine is planned to be completed by end of February.
- The integration of Microsoft Dynamics and Kranium will be coming to completion soon.
- Introduced the online help desk ticketing tool.
HR:
- Recruitments are still ongoing.
- Staff IDs are a work in progress.
- A number of acting staff were confirmed in the roles i.e. Solomon as Lab manager, Loretta
as Pharmacy Manager and Sophia as the customer service team leader.
- Payroll inputs and submissions should always be submitted on time.

Laboratory:

- Need uniforms for new staffs.


- The lab is in need of centrifuge.
- The need to train staff on the new standards.
- There is need for an AC to have machines function well.
- Lab needs cooling components.

Kitchen:
- Request to automate their process by giving them a system BC for their sales.
- Need a bornmary to avoid over warming/cooking food.
- Need a digital weighing scale.
- Still waiting for uniforms for all kitchen staff.
- Need PPE for kitchen staff.
- The kitchen needs an extractor.
- Need for fence around the back of the hospital for security purposes.
- Procurement to get alternative suppliers to break supplier monopoly in the kitchen

OPD:
Challenges
- Smelly sink in room 8
- Faulty ladies’ toilet.
- Salary Increment was discussed and the teams were encouraged to cut costs which skew
our revenue.
