ANTENOR – EPS, ENGLISH “B zzzz, bzzzzz, bzzzz,” Benny Bee sang sweetly while swinging under the tree. Sometimes he closed his eyes whenever the sun's rays peek through the leaves. “It's a sunny day!” He stretched his arms before spreading his wings. “I need to pack my things now! Later, it will be too hot to visit my friends,” said Benny Bee. Benny Bee entered his hive. He had two jars of hon- ey on the table and three jars of honey in the box, a total of five. He also had seven bottles of water and medicine in case he got a fever. He put three jars of honey and four bottles of water inside his bag. As he buzzed around his hive, he exclaimed, “Bzzz! Two jars of honey and three bottles of water left for me.” When Benny Bee finished packing his things, he flew outside of his hive. “Good morning, Benny,” Flora Flower greeted while swaying her leaves slowly. She was standing beside a tree, sweat rolling down her cheeks. “You look so thirsty, Flora. I have something for you!” Benny Bee got two bottles of water out of his bag. “Rain is not coming yet, you need this.” Then he poured the water on Flora’s head. “Swisssh, swissssh! It’s so refreshing!” Flora giggled while her small red petals bloomed wider. “Thank you, Benny Bee! You’re so kind and tender!” “You’re always welcome, Flora!” Benny Bee continued to fly. He only had two bottles of water and three jars of honey left inside his bag. While he was busy flying and buzzing, he saw Annie Ant resting under the grass. “You look so tired, Annie Ant,’’ Benny Bee said. Annie Ant took off her hat and used it as a fan. “Too hot to work today but I don’t have any food left on my tray.” Annie Ant said, looking at the bright sun. “No need to worry, Annie. I have one bottle of water and a jar of honey.” Benny Bee took one bottle of water and one jar of honey out of his bag. Annie Ant jumped and gave Benny a hug. “Thank you, Benny Bee! You are so kind!” Benny Bee looked at his bag. “One bottle of water left out of four and one jar of honey left out of three.” While he was counting, an old worm passed by his side. “Where are you go- ing Granny Worm?” Benny asked. “I am going to the lake, Benny. I am so thirsty.” Granny Worm slowly responded. Benny Bee didn’t hesitate to give the only water and honey left in his bag. “No need to go there, Granny! Get this bottle of water and a jar of honey.” Benny Bee took the bottle of water and a jar of honey out of his bag. Granny Worm was so happy and thankful. Now, no more bottles of water and a jar of honey were left in his bag. Benny Bee is loved by many because he is humble and friendly. He is always there when you need him. Helping others makes him happy. Benny is such a kind and generous bee! Benny Bee was on his way back home when he noticed the big, dark smoke behind the tree. His eyes widened and he flew faster. “Bzz! Bzz! Bzz!” Benny Bee breathed heavily as he reached the tree. “My home! My home!” he cried watching his home burning. He noticed a boy holding a match stick under the tree. “He burned my home! I didn’t do anything wrong.” Benny said sadly. “Sting him!” Flora Flower shouted. “Sting that bad boy on his face!” Benny Bee shook his head. “No, Flora. I can’t do that. Not because he did something bad to me, I will do the same. If I sting him, nothing will change, my house is still burned.” Flora Flower blinked twice and gasped in disbelief. “You are so kind, Benny! I hope that boy will be like you.”
“Revenge will do no good.
If I sting him, it will just make him angry. I will just build my new home, even if I’m unhap- py.” Benny replied.
“Don’t worry, Benny. Here
are my leaves for you to lay, until you find a new place to stay,” Flower Flora said. Benny smiled. He rested on Flora’s leaves and calmed himself. As soon as the news reached the oth- ers, Granny Worm crawled to find Benny to give him blankets and some honey. “When we are in need, you are there. Now, it is time to help you back, Ben- ny.” Granny Worm said. “I am not expecting any return, Granny. But thank you because this time, I need you badly.” Benny Bee smiled and felt so blessed with his friends. On the other side, Annie Ant was so busy calling the other bees to make a new hive. It was a surprise for her friend. When the hive was done and ready, she called Benny Bee. “Oh my! Oh my! I am so lucky!” Benny Bee exclaimed as he flew around in his new home. “I can’t believe you did this for me,” Benny said in disbelief. “When something good is planted, there will surely be a harvest. You are now reaping what you sow, Benny. You deserve all the goodness!” Annie Ant said with a smile. Benny Bee threw a party inside his new home and invited all his friends. He realized that when you do good to someone, it comes back to you more than you did, even if you didn’t ask for it. Benny Bee continued to be kind and friendly, still flying around to give a bottle of water and honey. ABOUT THE WRITER AND ILLUSTRATOR
