Who am I?

- Hello my name is Elisha Gale T. Ocampo. I just celebrated my birthday last month and now I am
18 years old. The only child of the family, My father is an business man and my mother helps my
father in our business and she is also house wife. I am currently now a first-year college student
and I am taking a Bachelor Science in Accountancy. I live in Glamang Polomolok South Cotabato.
I am some who is an extremely shy and quite person. One of my weaknesses is I do not have a
type personality that have confident to speak to other people or in the public. However, when I
am comfortable with the person who I am with or whom I know, I became extrovert sometimes.
Also, when someone approaches me, I would like to be humble and kind enough to approach
back.

In addition, when I am alone, I love imagining things that I want to experience, sometimes I
make a list in my notes. I have a lot of beliefs in dreaming big and setting goals for myself. There
are many things that I would like to achieve and do systematically in life. It includes having
financially stable hence, I can travel the world with my parents because it is dream of mine to
explore the places that I want to go with them. Buying the things that I want, treating gift and
money to my cousins. The most important thing is to dedicate myself to the service of others.
There is nothing more satisfying than helping others. Therefore, I have to education myself
really well on things that I want to do. Apart from this, I am keen on learning new things each
and every day. While learning, I pay attention to developing important skills such as critical
thinking, problem-solving, decision making, analytical and communication skills. Moreover, I’m
very punctual and like to do things on time.

What did I do?

- I enrolled in Notre Dame of the Dadianggas University. I am a freshmen student in a course of
Bachelor Science in Accountancy. During in our first term, I have subject about arts. And our
teacher asked us of what our perspective when it comes to art appreciation, I said to that
question is, I am a type of person really not good when it comes to art because as I observe to
myself when I create an art it would be so messy and I cannot really express my idea in making
it. But I really appreciate the creation of other people which makes so inspired by their
creativity. But I also encourage myself to look the beauty in it to for the hidden talent of myself
when it comes to this kind of learning. After we defined art appreciation, history, purposes,
kinds of art subject and so on. We make an art that it depends on ours that we will be captured
or sketching and digital after that we make a reflection about that kind of artwork. In our
assignment number 3 we are instruction to discussed the different forms of abstraction,
explaining the two types of surrealism, the six surrealistic techniques and searching about the
example of tragic or grotesque art that included the background information of the that certain
artwork. Furthermore, in our midterm task we make an art that it is up to us in what medium we
use to manifest it. Either visual arts or auditory and combined arts. But for me I choose that
mosaic art.

In our final’s discussion, our teacher made a group task that will be divided into five groups to
report our topic about the history of arts during the Prehistoric to 16th century, 17th Century-
Modern Art, Asian art, Philippine art (Pre-Colonial Art- Spanish Colonial Regime) and lastly,
Philippine Art (American Regime-Post war Present). In this topic that made my classmate
reported to us, I gain a lot of knowledge about the history of art of what is the greatest impact
to our society and the development of our surrounding as time goes by. Moreover, I learned
that how the other Spanish and Americans colonize us and how the Filipino people express their
hidden talent and how it begun to show their creativity not just in sketching but also, in making
poetry, acting, singing and so on.

Problems that I encountered in the subject

In terms of the topic of the subject, it is easy to understand that if you have the determination
to learn and have a deep appreciation of art, you can easily analyze the message conveyed by
the artist. Sometimes I am struggling to cope with the subject in terms of passing it in a punctual
manner. I am also struggling with my internet because you cannot really have a stable internet
every day. Another situation that I encountered in the subject is that the task was given to us
and we needed to immediately pass it tomorrow, which is really hard for me as a student to
efficiently finish, for there are a lot of assignments to do, not just this subject.
During the midterms, assignment one is the project that is really hard to do to the point where it
takes me 3 hours to finish it. For the mosaic art, for my artwork, I search for some inspirational
drawings on the net and it gives me some ideas which I think about in my mind. I want a subject
that blooms, and it comes to my mind that I want a flower that has a color just like a sunset red
and orange theme. My technique that I use is that I sketch on the bond paper and then I use a
pentel pen as a guide for my drawing to make the line darker after I draw. While doing this kind
of art, I realized that it wasn't easy; you have to cut the paper into tiny pieces of the correct size
to fill all the blanks and you have to paste them one by one.
Additionally, during the finals, my procrastination is really high during that time because in our
village we are celebrating the fiesta. My family and I attend church. Later, I did not know there
was a final offline task. I immediately did it, and asked my teacher to consider it and give me a
chance to attempt it. Lastly, on our final exam, I also have so many problems with the Moodle
since it is always lagging and I am afraid of something crashing my answers.

How did I resolve it?
