1 SCOPE OF WORK
1.1 Selection of T est Points
The location of test points for the pull out test shall be selected by the engineer
before testing works start.
1.2 Preparation
I. A large thick steel plate with a center hole shall be used as a reaction plate
over the surface of the slope. The pullout of the anchor shall be in exact
Parallel Direction of the nail into the slope. This is achieve by the preparation
of a Concrete Pad and additional Adjustment Plate to achieve an Exact
Perpendicular Surface to the bar for the bottom of the Hydraulic Hollow Jack
to sit on.
II. Specification detail of the jack must be provided showing the effective area of
the Hydraulic Cylinder Ram.
III. A Calibrated Load Cell with enough capacity must be used as a
Primary Load Reference.
IV. A Calibrated Pressure Gauge with enough capacity must also be used as a
Secondary Load Reference. At least 3 Calibrated Dial Gauge with 0.01 mm
accuracy must be use over the surface of the reference plate
V. The overall setup of the equipment arrangement for the Pullout Test is as shown
in below Figure 1
1.3 The Pullout Test
I. A Connecting Coupler shall be used to extend the anchor to accommodate
the equipment installed.
II. The loading sequence of the Pullout test shall be according to:
BS8081 : 1989 (refer to Table 1)
III. The Acceptance Criteria of the Pullout Test and the termination of the test
shall be determined by the engineer at site.

1.4 Method of Calculation
The pressure value of a hydraulic jack at a specific load with a hydraulic jack specific
Ram Area is calculated as below
