Procedure
Ground Selection:
Select an even ground surface where girder should be cast.
Compaction
Selected ground should be compacted prior to lean concrete.
Lean Concrete
Lean Concrete shall be laid to make surface even and smooth
Steel Reinforcement
Proper steel reinforcement shall be erected on the levelled base as per approved dawing/BBS with
proper specified spacing from all side
Formwork Erection
Formwork shall be installed after all of the above work has been done with proper scaffolding so that it
should resist pressure of concrete
Concrete Casting
Concrete shall be laid after Formwork erection of specified strength given in drawing and proper
vibration shall be done by mean of vibrator so that there will be no chance of segregation. Wire must be
checked after concreting so that it moves freely for pre-stressing.
Formwork Removal
Formwork shall be removed after specified period.
Curing
After formwork removal water curing shall be done for specified period.
Stressing of Girder
After curing for specified period the power pack is supplied with power supply and is connected with
jack. Stressing at end of the girder is done. The pressure is increase as per given drawing. At this stage
initial slackness is removed and Elongation at every interval is noted down. Zero correction is done and
elongation is calculated after 24 hour slip is also recorded. The cable is cut down from the wedges and
grout cap is bolted.
Grouting
Grouting shall be done after pre-stressing by mixing sand and cement in ratio 1:3 and is done as early as
possible duct should be washed out through water and end must be sealed prior to grouting and
pressure should be checked before grout
