POLICE COMMUNIQUE

Application for driving licences and other services offered by the Licensing Office
The public is hereby informed that as regards applications for learner’s licences
and other services provided by the Licensing office, a scheme as hereunder has been
worked out and will be implemented as from Wednesday 05 May 2021.

A On line applications for learners licences for all types of motor vehicles
Applicants who had applied online and had an appointment at the Traffic
Branch, Line Barracks for the processing of their learners’ licences as from
10 March 2021 to 31 March 2021, but have not been able to do so due to the
confinement are informed that their appointments have been rescheduled.
They are to call at the On Line Section, Traffic Branch, Line Barracks, Port-
Louis as from 05 May 2021 on dates shown in Table A below.

With a view to preventing gatherings and in order to maintain social distancing,

appointments initially scheduled on a given day, will be rescheduled as far as practicable,
on two consecutive days. The appointments of applicants whose surnames begin with
letters A to K will be rescheduled on the first day and the appointments of those whose
surnames begin with letters L to Z will be rescheduled on the second day.

Applicants are to call at the Online Application Centre, Traffic Branch, Line
Barracks, Port-Louis on their corresponding rescheduled date as mentioned in Table A
above, and at the same time mentioned in the email already sent to them, bringing along
the documents listed therein, for processing of their applications.
In case of query, they may call on telephone No. 213 5744.
No online applications for learner’s licences will be entertained until further
orders.

B Delivery of already processed driving licences

(i) Persons who had applied for learners licences, duplicate driving licences
and conversion of driving licences, prior to the lockdown will have to call
at the Traffic Branch, Line Barracks to collect their licences as hereunder:
Persons with surnames beginning with letters A to F – on Mondays & Thursdays
Persons with surnames beginning with letters G to N – on Tuesdays & Fridays
Persons with surnames beginning with letters O to Z – on Wednesdays &
Saturdays

They will have to call between 0900 hrs to 1500 hrs on weekdays and between
0900 hrs and 1130 hrs on Saturdays.

(ii) Those persons who have been disqualified to drive by Court and their
disqualification period has lapsed, may call at the Traffic Branch for the
 restoration of their driving licences between 0900 hrs and 1400 hrs on
weekdays and between 0900 hrs and 1100 hrs on Saturdays.

(iii) Those persons who have passed a driving test and have to collect their
driving licences may do so at the Driving Test Centre where they
underwent their driving tests.

2. New applications
New applications for duplicate driving licences, international driving permits,
conversion of driving licences will be entertained between 0900 hrs and 1400 hrs on
weekdays and between 0900 hrs and 1030 hrs on Saturdays.

These new applicants will have to call at the Traffic Branch, Line Barracks, Port-
Louis as hereunder:

Applicants with surnames beginning with letters A to F – on Mondays & Thursdays

Applicants with surnames beginning with letters G to N – on Tuesdays & Fridays
Applicants with surnames beginning with letters O to Z – on Wednesdays & Saturdays

3. No new appointment for test, both oral or practical, will be entertained for the
time being.

4. Members of the public calling at the Traffic Branch, Line Barracks, Les Casernes
& Argy Driving Test Centres will be required to wear face masks. They may be subjected
to a temperature test.

6. As regards the rescheduling of online applications, made after 31.03.2021, a new

Communiqué will be released at the beginning of the month of June 2021.
