ABSTRACT

Digital technology has become an indispensable component in the realm of education, playing a
pivotal role in guiding transformative learning experiences and fostering an environment
conducive to effective educational processes. The rapid advancement of technology brought a
paradigm shift in how education is delivered and received. This evolution allows the school to
integrate technological tools to assist students in the sudden shift of learning. The digital
infrastructure has been implemented to help students all throughout the learning process. This
study delved into the experiences of BSED Mathematics students with various digital
infrastructures provided by the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines.
The study employed a phenomenological research design, the researchers engaged with (20)
students from the 2023-2024 academic year, utilizing semi-structured in-depth interviews to
gather data on their encounters with digital tools such as Tablets, Free Wi-Fi, Free Load, E-
Library, Computer Laboratory, and USTeP. The interviews were analyzed using Thematic
Analysis of Braun and Clarke to analyze and interpret the findings. There are 16 generated
themes in this study: Connectivity Hurdles, Resource Accessibility, Proficient, Technology and
Equipment Issue, Well-Equipped, Limited Access, Limited Capacity, User-Friendly,
Insufficiency, Usage Limitations, Equipment Failure, Congested, Dysfunctional, Thinking
Solution, Strategy, and Effective Communication. The findings unveiled a spectrum of both
positive and negative experiences. Students acknowledged the value of digital tools in
augmenting their learning experiences, yet encountered challenges. Nevertheless, they adeptly
devised coping mechanisms to navigate these challenges. This study has implications for
students, educators, administrators, and parents, providing insights into the efficacy of digital
infrastructure in mathematics education. The results offer guidance for educational institutions to
improve their digital learning environments, aligning better with student needs and preferences.
Thus, this paper contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of digital infrastructure in the
educational sphere, particularly in the context of mathematics learning.

the BSED Mathematics Students. Their cooperation, openness, and willingness to share
experiences have greatly contributed to the depth and authenticity of our research, adding
valuable perspectives to the overall findings.

We also want to express our appreciation to the Mathematics Department for creating a
conducive learning environment and providing the necessary resources for this research. The
department's support has played an instrumental role in the successful completion of our project.
