In order to guarantee the classroom environment is appropriate for learning, the following rules and procedure will be
followed. Every student deserves a positive learning environment, and everyone should expect each other to do his/her part
to insure one.

Classroom Online
1. Be in your SEAT when the bell rings. Don’t be LATE! 1. Join with your mic OFF and video ON!
2. Keep class activities free from DISRUPTION. 2. Use Reactions (emoticons) first before speaking!
3. Follow directions the FIRST time given. 3. Your face must be visible on the screen.
4. Bring ALL NECESSARY materials to class daily. 4. Find a space without distractions

Pa

You must ALWAYS have a pass to leave the classroom. I only give passes to the restroom in cases of an
emergency. Please do not ask me for a pass while I am in the middle of a lecture or a class activity. Remember, only one
person is allowed out of the classroom at any given time.

1
You must be in your seat when the bell rings. Any other situation is considered late and will have the following
consequences….
1. Detention (after school) AND/OR Reading Grade will be lowered accordingly.
(1min...B, 2min...C, etc…). Remember, your participation grade counts 5% of your grade!
2. Excessive tardiness will be referred to the ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL.
You will receive a detention when late or your participation grade will be lowered, and a detention must be served within
three days after receiving it. If you do not serve it within the next three days, you will receive another one, which means you
must serve two detentions within the next three days. Failure to serve both detentions will be considered excessive tardiness
and you will be referred to the ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL.

◼ All absences are unexcused until your absence is excused by the attendance office, and you inform me that it is excused.
[First Block students- Remember being late to school and missing first block is considered an UNEXCUSED absence
from first block not a tardy. If your tardy is excused than your absence will be excused (tardy slip marked excused must
be presented) or if the tardy is unexcused then your absence will also be unexcused.]
◼ Make-up work will be available for tests and homework for excused absences only. Unexcused absence or tardiness
waives your right to make up any work. Consequently, you will receive an “F” for any activity done on the day that you
missed and on activities that you are unable to complete due to this absence (LABS, READING, etc.). Since tests are
announced a Block or two prior to being administered, you will be held responsible for taking any tests that are given on
the day that you return from an absence.
◼ See No Credit below

Labs are worth 20% of your grade. Your lab write-ups are due upon completion of the lab unless specified otherwise by me.
Remember that you must be present to do your lab work; therefore, choose the days you are absent wisely. A science fee of
$6.00 will be charged per student per science class. PAY EARLY…..

• Homework and classwork are worth 15% of your grade. Homework is always to be turned in at the beginning of the
class period without being asked by the teacher into the provided place. Homework that is turned in after this time
will not be accepted. Homework not turned in will be counted as a zero. Classwork is to be turned in at the end of
each class session without being asked by the teacher.
• A PARTICIPATION worth 5% of your grade will be given for class participation (this include bringing your
tablet). If you are not present or you are late you will receive an “F” for that day and it can not be made up even if it
is an excused absence (unless you make special arrangements with me). If you are tardy for any part of that time
your grade will be reduced accordingly. See tardy above.
• Computer assignments (Edgenuity)/projects will be given. These assignments are crucial. They will count up to
one to two test grades.

2
Tests are worth 60% of your nine-week grade. There will normally be at least three tests every nine weeks.

GRADING: ________________________
5% PARTICIPATION/ONLINE
15% HOMEWORK/CLASSWORK
20% LAB, QUIZZES, and PROJECTS
60% TEST and PROJECTS

1. YOU MUST ASK FOR MAKE-UP WORK THE CLASS PERIOD YOU RETURN TO SCHOOL!!!!!
2. You are entitled to make up only 2 tests in a given nine-week period provided that your absences are EXCUSED. The
third missed test will result in an automatic “F” regardless of the status of your absence. You must also make up the test
within one week it was given. It is necessary for you to make arrangements with me two days prior to your make-up
date. Make-up hours are after school and will be according to my availability.
3. If you are absent and have an excused note you may turn HOMEWORK in on the SAME day you return to school.
4. There are no make-ups for participation grades, labs, and certain classwork (work done in groups as mini lab).
Alternative assignment will be given to makeup these types of activities.
5. You have 2 BLOCKS (from the day of the absence) to make up all work.

NOTE: MHS will issue a progress report during the mid-portion of every nine weeks. It is up to you to keep track of your
performance in the class. You are the only one in charge of your grade, be proactive!

You need to have the following materials with you every class period.

- Pen, pencil, and paper

- A place to organize your notes (folder… etc.)
(handouts, rules, etc., for the whole year)
- Tablets

3
A= 90 - 100 3.50 - 4.00
B= 80 - 89 2.50 - 3.49
C= 70 - 79 1.50 - 2.49
D= 60 - 69 1.00 - 1.49
F= 0 - 59 0 - 0.99

A “NC” will be given to a student if they obtain 10 or more UNEXCUSED absences in the WHOLE YEAR. This means
you will have to take Biology again the following year. You must excuse your absences within two weeks from the date you
were absent. Remember, the computer keeps track of your absences it is up to you to keep track of the dates you were absent.
You can check your absences on the internet from your home or any school computer.

DON’T BE A REPEATER BECAUSE OF YOUR ABSENCES.

You must earn 5 points in the last semester of this course to pass.
Don’t get lazy in the last semester……It has consequences….

Do not lose your book. It cost around $90.00. The actual cost will be given by the treasure!
