It is with great pleasure I am writing to inform you that there are certain events taking
place concerning regulation of Homeopathy in the Province of Ontario.
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care through the Health Professions Regulatory
Advisory Council (HPRAC) has contacted several stakeholders including the HMCC,
advising of the new developments, and requesting our participation. All of the information
regarding this process can be obtained from the HPRAC website by anyone who is
interested, at www.hprac.org, and we encourage you to visit the site for yourself. We at
HMCC (ON) have been in touch and have been assured by the officials of the Council,
that this process is completely transparent, in that the Ministry has a list of all
stakeholders and contact names, and these people will be contacted from time to time as
more information becomes available.
In the interim, HMCC(ON) has formed a working group to participate and respond to the
Ministry’s request with our own submission, and we invite any member who is interested
to become involved. This is a good time to remind all members to pay their membership
fees, as well as the Liability Insurance portion, which is a requirement for regulation
(Question 13 – Request for Regulation). If paid now for the balance of the year, the
amount due for liability insurance coverage is $275.40. Please contact the HMCC offices
to renew your membership.
Also, an attorney has been retained to assist in this process, and we are hoping to have
an Annual Meeting to keep members abreast of all of our activities this year. I would like
to extend an open invitation to all Homeopaths in Ontario, to unite to have this profession
regulated for the benefit of all.
Sincerely yours,
