GRADE BREAKDOWN
Semester Final (Weighted 20%)
At the end of each semester, there will be a final examination and it will be cumulative.

Tests / Projects (Weighted 25%) Students are required to put a considerable amount of time to study
and prepare for tests. Tests are the primary tool used to assess and measure your independent ability to
demonstrate what you learned in class. Fifty percent of tests will be questions from previous quizzes.
A student should expect 5 tests per semester and 4 projects per semester.

Quizzes / Classwork (Weighted 25%) Whether it is written, oral, or participatory based, there will be
a quiz score entered in almost every class meeting. If a student is absent, they will receive a zero until
the work is made up if it is an excused absence. Classwork will usually include the even numbered
problems in the book and some type of online assessment.

Homework (Weighted 20%) Homework will be assigned almost every class and will be directly
correlated to what was done in class. Homework will ALWAYS be due the following class unless
otherwise stated. Homework will be graded in class and individually checked by Mr. Del Cid.
Homework will be graded based on the amount of mathematical steps shown. Answers to odd questions
are posted in the back of the book for students to check their answers.

Participation (Weighted 10%) You are responsible for being an effective communicator, team player
and show genuine interest in learning. Be sure to actively engage in discussions, verbalize mathematical
understanding, work effectively in your group, manage time effectively, and take responsibility for your
progress in this class.

Late/Make-up Work Students are encouraged to make up any missed work for full credit within the
first THREE school days upon return from an excused absence(s). Students will receive up to 50% on a
fourth day and zero thereafter.

TUTORING I am typically available everyday after school until 4:00 p.m. for assistance.

Academic Integrity Any exam, paper or report submitted by you and that bears your name is
presumed to be your own original work. In section assignments, you may use words or ideas
written by other individuals in publications, web sites, or other sources, but only with proper
attribution. "Proper attribution" means that you have fully identified the original source and
extent of your use of the words or ideas of others that you reproduce in your work for this course,
usually in the form of a footnote or parentheses. If you are not clear about the expectations for
completing an assignment or taking a test or examination, be sure to seek clarification from your
instructor beforehand.

I expect you to protect and promote academic integrity at VPS. Any evidence of cheating will
result in a score of zero (0) on that assignment or examination. Cheating on the final exam results
in an "F" for the course. Cheating includes but is not limited to bringing notes or written or
electronic materials into an exam or quiz, using notes or written or electronic materials during an
exam or quiz, copying off another person's exam or quiz, allowing someone to copy off of your
exam or quiz, and having someone take an exam or quiz for you. Incidences of cheating will be
reported to the Dean, which may administer additional punishment.
