PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL – 4th FEB 2024 – 5th SUNDAY of OT (B)
CELEBRANT: Let us pray to the Father,
whose love heals the broken-hearted.
READER: 1. For ourselves,
especially in these days of deep anxiety, worry and fretfulness: that we may each find a lonely place of prayer where we can rest in God’s love and be refreshed in hope... LORD, IN YOUR MERCY…
2. For the entire Church:
that she may preach the gospel with urgency and compassion, offering the Good News of Christ to a world assaulted by demons of injustice and pain... LORD, IN YOUR MERCY...
3. For the restoration of peace amongst the nations:
that wisdom and justice may prevail and that the wounds of the people of Ukraine and Gaza, Russia and Israel may be healed… LORD, IN YOUR MERCY...
4. For the enslaved, the trafficked and the exploited:
that we may never, even unwittingly, be party to their abuse and that leaders in government and in business may work for their dignity and liberty… LORD, IN YOUR MERCY…
5. For all who are sick
and especially for those who live with chronic depression: that they may receive the care, the friendship and the hope for which they yearn... LORD, IN YOUR MERCY...
6. For all who have died:
that, though their days on earth have passed, they may awaken with joy to the bright vision of God in heaven… LORD, IN YOUR MERCY...
Let us ask Mary to stand by us in prayer as we say...HAIL MARY...
And let us pray for God’s healing strength
in our own lives and in the lives of those who are close to us...
CELEBRANT: Saving God,
who raise the lowly and humble the wicked: listen to our prayers and grant to all your people the blessings of liberty and healing until life’s end. Through Christ our Lord.
