A. DEFENSE PROCEDURE

1. Pre-defense

1. ENDORSEMENT
The student research (per group) must seek the endorsement coming from their
research adviser.

2. SCHEDULE OF DEFENSE
This must not be in conflict with any academic class hours or official activities such as
examination and extra curricular activities. A common free time must be agree upon
first before finalizing the final defense.

3. APPROVAL OF THE FINAL DEFENSE


Upon finalizing the date , the research adviser endorses the schedule of the defense
to the Research Coordinator and recommends it for the approval to the Senior High
School Coordinator.

4. SUBMISSION OF RESEARCH PAPERS


At least two weeks before the scheduled defense, copies of the research paper
should be submitted to the members of the panel.

2. Actual Defense

The students per group must be able to prepare the following:

o Rating Sheet Forms


o Copies of the Research
o Electronic equipment
o Power point presentation

3. Final Defense Presentation

The researchers should present briefly the essential parts: Introduction,


Methodology, Results (Tables & Figures) and Discussions, Conclusions &
1 Recommendations.

Time for the final presentation and discussion depends between the inquiry of the

2 panel members.

During the discussion, the research adviser is not allowed to answer queries from
the panel members unless otherwise the question is directly addressed to him/her.

After the presentation, the student researcher/s and the research adviser shall leave
the room to give time for the panel members to deliberate on the status of the
4 research.

4. Post Defense

The researcher/s may have three outcomes:

PASSED
o Incorporate all the corrections and suggestions (if there’s any).
o The researchers must provide a summary of revisions duly signed by the
research adviser and the panel members.
o The researchers must submit the final and revised copy of the research to
his/her research adviser.

RE-DEFEND
o Re-defense is advised when data are insufficient, results were not clearly
justified, the paper lacks discussion, or the presentation of the data is poorly
written.
o The researcher/s that is/are advised to re-defend shall follow the same
procedure as before in preparing for the defense.
o Failure of researcher/s to re-defend would mean remedial of the subject.

FAILED
o A researcher/s will get a failing grade due to the following reasons:
- Procedural/ error in sampling on the research or the approved
methodology was not followed;
- Inconsistency with the findings and the procedures;
- Fail to defend his/her research;
- There is an evidence of plagiarism, tampering of results, or the like.

5. Copyright and Plagiarism

Research paper is legally classified as publication; care must be taken not to violate
copyright laws. If the research manuscript contains any material taken from the copyrighted
sources, proper credit must be given in the text.

6. Publication

Students may publish materials that were previously used as part of the research
paper provided that the department is notified at the time the student submits the paper for
publication. (Attached herewith is the format needed for the Research Journal).

7. Deadlines

To pass the subject, research students must meet the scheduled deadline for the
research paper in final and revised form. There are no exceptions for late submission.
